Back up the server. What files to back up?

    Hello,

I created my own TeamSpeak server, and I would like to ask what files should I back up for possible recovery.

I want to keep all room permissions and users.

    My files.

    query_ip_blacklist.txt
    query_ip_whitelist.txt
    serverkey.dat
    ts3server.ini
    ts3db_mariaDB.ini

    Teamspeak Server Settings/dbfiles.

In windows there is this "appdata" folder where you can find program setting files.
Reusing those files can bring your old programs, including Teamspeak, back to life.
Where can I find those files on Ubuntu?

The server settings database (ts3server.sqlitedb) is always stored in the server folder as long you did not use MariaDB..

Moving from CentOS x86 to Ubuntu x64

    Hey!
My old server was an x86 one and is offline now. I got a new server running ubuntu x64 and installed the latest x64 teamspeak version. I got an backup of my old x86 teamspeak server and now want my settings like channel / rights / [..] back. Is this possible? What files do i have to overwrite?

The "ts3server.sqlitedb", "ts3server.sqlitedb-shm", "ts3server.sqlitedb-wal" and the "files" folder. If you used a server ini file, than that one too.

Would be bad when these still exist after server shutdown. There is a small chance that the database is broken.

how to convert or replace TeamSpeak 3.9.1 server from windows 10 to linux mint 18

Is there a way to copy, replace or convert a full teamspeak 3.9.1 server.
(server groups, channel groups, permissions, channels, logs and all of it.)

I searched already the forum and the internet for a working solution, but it did not work in my case.
I did find a lot if I want to do it the other way (from linux to windows).
al of that did work by testing it myself.

But not the other way (windows to linux).
    https://forum.teamspeak.com/showthread.php/54162-Move-TS3-server-windows-to-linux

also this is not readable for me.

If I try to copy the files (ts3server.sqlitedb, files folder) to a new working linux server, than I get a binary reading error. I also do not have a licensekey.dat file.

Why is ther not 1 manual or a step by step solution?

(sorry for my english if it is bad, i am from the Netherlands)

    Win Server Migration

So I have a Win 2012 R2 server with TS running for years. I build a new server with 2012 R2 again and want to migrate the server from one machine to the other. Everything I have read says move a handful of files from one machine to the other and it will work. For the most part it does I see all the channels that were added and the layout is perfect but I have zero rights cant leave my lobby. Now the first thing I noticed is that the user I first logged in to the new server with and set up the primary key is now a guest and not the server admin anymore. But when I switch the files back over to the initial setup on the new server the primary key user is server admin again.

So how or why am I losing server admin rights? how do I fix it? or am I doing it wrong

    server migration 2

Please stop putting posts that ask about server migration into a 5 year old Resolved post. You may feel it is resolved but it isn't because your procedure is 5 years old and the files you say to copy over aren't in the list of files that we have in our TS server folder.

If you read my original post
    https://forum.teamspeak.com/threads/...828#post476828

I followed the directions to move "Said" files, which really isn't accurate, because there are no ini files or the licensekey. dat or the serverkey.dat files. From you list of files I am to move there are only 4 that match up to the 8 you are asking to move.

    .ts3server_license_accepted Yes
    licensekey.dat not found
    query_ip_blacklist.txt Yes
    query_ip_whitelist.txt Yes
    serverkey.dat not found
    ts3server.ini not found
ts3db_mariaDB.ini not found (but there is a dll of the same name)
    ts3server.sqlitedb Yes

I also moved the 2 folders, files and logs and I did all of this while the server was not running, which I exited properly.

Now you do mention something about moving MariaDB ?!?! BUT you say nothing else am i using it by default? do I need to search for it? Is it part of the files that I will be moving to the new server?

I will include a screen shot of the files that are in my the TS server folder.

thank you for reading my post fully and looking at MY situation which might not be the standard from 5 years ago when someone mentions "server migration"

It's important (just) for you to migrate the files folder and ts3server.sqlitedb.

The licensekey.dat and serverkey.dat doesn't exist if you don't have an active license.

It's not needed to keep the .ts3server_license_accepted file.
It will be replaced with each server start if you are using a valid license (or the default one).

Since you are using SQLite instead of MySQL/MariaDB the ts3db_mariaDB.ini doesn't exist.

You can generate a ts3server.ini with an additional start parameter.
    (See /doc/server_quickstart.txt -> 6. Commandline Parameters)

Does not matter how old the thread is.
The thread and it's explanation is still valid for anyone and last update was in April.

My answer says "Copy following files (in case they do exist) .."
So if you don't have the file. Then logically you can't do anything without it.

For your missing things you may did copy the database while server was still running and new stuff not added yet. Only a instance shutdown makes sure you have everything.

So again I followed the directions just like they said I moved 4 of the 8 files as that's as many as I had. BUT when I log into thee new server I see the proper layout all my channels, just like on the old TS server but I have no rights to move to another channel.

I set my TS server up based on channel rights you don't need any passwords there are 2 server groups, Admin and normal. The lobby is the first channel where no one has rights except the admin and serveradmin, they drag guests to another channel and give them normal rights then they can navigate all the other channels.

My Problem is after the migration all users (admin and normal) are guests and even the serveradmin is a guest so now I am stuck in the lobby. Without the serveradmin able to give anyone rights its a dead box.

Now if I revert back to the base install of the TS server the serveradmin has rights again so i am losing something in the migration process which is ALL user rights because neither the old serveradmin or the new serveradmin has rights after the migration.

That's why I think the database was still opened and not everything was written into it. Make sure the original server is not that old and new one has the latest version. And that you use the right identity on that new server. Without your identity you will be a new user for the server.

ts3server.sqlitedb contains all, servers, permissions, users, channels and server settings.
If something is still missing there, then your database is declared as broken.
