    TS3Soundboard Bot - Looking for Beta-Testers

    Heyho!

    tl;dr: Download for Linux 64bit

    I’ve been working on a music streaming bot lately that is now ready for some beta testing action on Linux/64bit.

    Here are some of the currently available features (the todo-list is still pretty long):
    * simple to setup (just install the TS3 Client, minimal dependencies and run the bot)
    * easy to use web-interface
    * file-upload
    * user accounts with privileges
    * playlists
    * support for YouTube & such
    * heavy focus on being resource-friendly
    * can be controlled from within TS via Chat-Commands
    * multiple bots possible

    Just to let you know: the bot is now in public beta.
    I'd be thrilled to hear what you think about it!

    I created an upstart-conf to easily start the bot with a simple "start ts3-musicbot":
    Code:
    # -*- upstart -*-
    description "ts3-musicbot"
    author "Thor77 <thor77.org>"

    start on (networking)
    stop on runlevel [!2345]

    respawn

    exec xinit /opt/ts3soundboard/ts3bot -- /usr/bin/Xvfb :1 -screen 0 800x600x16 -ac
    IMPORTANT: This will start the bot as root, you should create an own user for the bot and add "setuid <username>" over "respawn".
    Save this at
    Code:
    /etc/init/ts3-musicbot.conf
    now you can start the bot with
    Code:
    start ts3-musicbot
    stop it with
    Code:
    stop ts3-musicbot
    and restart it with
    Code:
    restart ts3-musicbot
    It will also start automatically on server-starup.

    Wiki

    I know the Bot is still in Beta, but i think a good-structured wiki would be very good, because blog-articles are not a good way to structure a documentation and everyone could contribute: improve existing pages and create their own (for example installation-instructions for more operating systems)
    If you dont have enough space or knowledge i could host a wiki for you on my server, just contact me.

    Thank you both very much! I already have an upstart script that covers logging as well, it'll be deployed with the next version It's still very nice to see that people start extending and are trying to help

    And I totally agree, there needs to be better documentation and it would be great, if the community could extend it (currently it's not blog posts but static pages mainly, still not good at all). I've searched for a simple wiki system but haven't found one yet that a) supports markdown (that's what I mostly use), b) doesn't look like it's from 1990, c) doesn't require me to install a gazillion dependencies and d) is exchangeable with ease (let's me export contents in a simple way). If you know such a thing, I'll gladly host it.

    You could use the Github-Wiki, it has good markdown-support.
    If you want to host the wiki on your own server, you can use dokuwiki (dependencies: web-server with php-support): https://www.dokuwiki.org/dokuwiki with a markdown-plugin: https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:markdowku

    I actually missed that Github allows everyone to edit the pages, I thought it was only possible for the collaborators - so I think I'll stick to that, at least for now.
    I've looked into dokuwiki, but it has that 1990s look by default (okay, maybe 2010 - most of the themes as well). And I'd rather spend time developing than designing

    Thank you very much^^

    I like dokuwiki's default theme, it looks very clean to me
