[BETA Channel] TeamSpeak 3 Client 3.0.19

    Edit by dante
    This beta client was removed.
All fixes (excludes visual c 2015) have been added to TeamSpeak client 3.0.18.2 instead.

A new beta 3.0.19 with Visual Studio 2015 support and a new thread will be released later.

    Edit end

We're happy to announce that the upcoming client release is now available for beta testing.

This is an early beta to catch any issues that may or may not possibly result from the use of a new compiler early on and test it on a wide variety of systems out there.
This also further improves the fix to the recently discovered security vulnerability in client 3.0.18 and older.

    Attention for Windows users
You will first need to download and install the MSCV 2015 runtimes otherwise the updater will not run and complain about missing files.

To get this client simply switch your update channel to Beta in Settings -> Options -> Application and then check for updates in the Help menu.

Please find the entire changelog below:
    Code:
    === Client Release 3.0.19 xx Oct 2015
+ Upgraded Windows compiler to Visual Studio 2015 (there are known problems
with Windows XP and Vista, see release thread in forum)
    * Further hardened security fix from 3.0.18.1. Remote images are now stored in
single directory by hash, instead of subfolders.
    * Updated include folders in plugin SDK for recent code restructuring
    * Added external link warning to opening URLs from within URL Catcher
    - Fixed unclickable Download Folder label in Filebrowser dialog
    - Fixed PTT delay not getting properly saved and restored
    - Ignore a virtual server banner if the download completed after the client has
      already disconnected from that server.
    - Replaced wrong clear filter icon in permissions overview dialog
    - On entering an unsubscribed channel, scan all clients for CLIENT_TALK_REQUEST
and preset that value to avoid getting the notification sound when clicking
      on that client later.

TeamSpeak Banner doesn't work in Beta Client 3.0.19 on Server Version 3.0.11.4 - TemSpeak Banner is created with PHP Imagecreate.

Please do not forget the old client 3.0.18 did not check image files properly.
This has changed and had to be changed in client 3.0.18.1 (and newer) to avoid evil exploits!
If pictures now fail to show, then there is something wrong in the header file of the image. QT reject to show these iamges then.

The old client did not check everything in that image and did not reject the image. But that was bad and a security risk ;/

Which program was used to create that image?
I think many users will get the same problem now, but there is nothing we can fix.

Your action is required to solve that:
Re-create or save the picture with the same (could cause same problem again) or with other software.

Yes I've read, but no Error Logs in Apache/Nginx.

    HTML Code:
    [21/Oct/2015:19:10:19 +0200] "GET /includes/api/ts3/index.php HTTP/1.1" 200 41309 "-" "TeamSpeak3-ImageFetcher-1.0"
Where can I look for the error now?

Client 3.0.19 does check even more than 3.0.18.1 did.
Maybe it fails here. You need to check the client log, not the php log for this.

Could you send me a link to the banner? I'm interested if there is a problem with our new cache system.

    Update | Missing Files

    Running 3.0.18.1
    Updating to 3.0.19

    Message: https://i.imgur.com/RVdzJ8U.png

After I close that and open TS again, it's still 3.0.18.1, and the updater can still launch but fails after completion with the same message.

Recently I switched to Visual Studio 2015 for TSNotifier and ran into some trouble concerning the installation of the Visual C++ Redistributable 2015. So maybe this information can be usefull:

If you have installed the Visual C++ 2015 runtime and are getting a message about a missing api-ms-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0.dll, you might have run into this bug:

The windows update KB2999226 isn't installed and can't be installed (most likely because other prerequisite windows-updates aren't installed yet).

The only advise I can give right now is this:
    1. uninstall Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 (x86 and x64)
    2. let windows search for windows-updates
    3. install these updates and reboot your pc
    4. repeat steps 2 and 3 until no more updates can be found
    5. try reinstalling the Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 and pray that the KB2999226-update is installed or can be installed.

    Hi,

to add to the existing confusion, the beta channel is now downgraded to version 3.0.18.2, which is again built with the older Visual Studio 2013 runtime. So the 2015 redistributable is no longer required for the current beta (and stable) 3.0.18.2.

I wanted to get that further patch out, and the runtime update came in the way and turned out to be more messy and complex to handle than I originally expected. With that, we will delay the runtime update for a later release and meanwhile work on doing it right and painless.

I do not have a problem to make a beta release a bit messy, that's what a beta test channel is for. :-)
But I want to make the update from stable to next stable smooth. So we need to invest a bit more work into the runtime update first. The 3.0.19 version will reappear in the beta channel once ready. I don't know yet when exactly.

Anyways, I think downgrading the TeamSpeak version in the beta channel is something new which we did not have before.

Anyone who installed the 2015 redistributable for the TeamSpeak 3.0.19 beta could in theory uninstall it again. But I would recommend keeping it, as a) you may not know if some other program still requires it, and b) I would expect that other programs will need it in the future as other developers also update their Visual Studio, and c) TeamSpeak will also require it again in the future.
