    Teamspeak Crash

    Hey,

    someone sent me this link:

Do I have to take this seriously and do I have to be worried as ATHP? When will this be fixed?

    Greetings

So, why doesn't Teamspeak take action if the bug was reported weeks ago?!

    Hello there,

    we had the same problems.
User named 'TeamSleep' just connected on our server with an american ip-address.
A few minutes later the server just crashed - appearently he uses an exploit.
By the way, we are a german-speaking gaming community so it's very strange that a user from the USA connects to the server more than one time...

    Server-Crash message (Windows Server 2012 R2):
    Code:
    2016-02-14 17:31:08.469499|CRITICAL|VirtualServerBase|  1| Assertion "connectionPtr != 0" failed at server\serverlib\virtualserverbase.cpp:2379;
    TeamSleep's Ts3 ID*: 9k+k6+nBnEjVcBEe0Zadue/xV+U=

*I am very sorry if it's not allowed sending user ts3 ids. If it's so, please remove the id.

We also had some problems with guys from 'R4P3.net' few weeks ago...

    Greetings

Forgot to shut down server before upgrade

    Hello

I forgot to shut down the teamspeak server before upgrading to the new version. I copied all the new files in the server folder. When I saw that the server is still running I shut it down immediately (closed the terminal window) and restarted the server. It seems running fine. I'm running the server on OSX El Capitan. Is this a problem or is everything fine?

    CRITICAL Bug

    Dear developers,

Is there any news regarding making patch of this CRITICAL bug ?

I think many of people can get tool that can CRASH EVERY TEAMSPEAK 3 Server (except that have patched their bases from non-trusted developers - it is not secure - maybe they can take keys from your base)?

    With best regards,

Tech. engeneer of one of official ATHP hosters.

Instead of editing my posts you could tell us by when the fix will be released. Since that even the guy that wrote the exploit can provide fixed binaries we must insist that the official fix will be released within next week.
As I don't trust this guy and don't want his code to be executed on my machines I ask you to release the new version ASAP.
According to the exploit author you had enough time to react.

    Greetings

    Another ATHP tech guy

    Just to help.

My server was crashing every 1.5 Hrs, to 2 hrs on the dot. I checked for errors in the Log file. I found the same error everyone is listing above. I found a temporary method to prevent the crashing until a fix is found.

Seeing as how this "TeamSleep" is an automated TS3 Exploit, it's being ran from a system based in Cali. The temp fix that I did to prevent the crashing was to just block the IP address from accessing the server at all. I used iptables to do this. I am running Debian 7 on my VPS. This has left my server running now for 6 hours + where I was crashing every 1.5 - 2 hours. This is the command that I used.

    iptables -A INPUT -s IPHERE -j DROP

*note, replace IPHERE with the ipaddress of the TeamSleep user found in Client List.*

Now, I do not know the rules for Teamspeak forums, as I just created my user here to let everyone know what I did to prevent my server from crashing all the time. But if you look in your Client List, under permissions, and you search for TeamSleep or Team Sleep, and you find a bunch of connections from this user, note the IP address and block it from accessing the server.

This will prevent the continuous crashing from happening. After the user drops the exploit on the server, they can remotely crash your TS3 server. This is how I prevented it from happening anymore until TS releases some sort of a Fix for this issue.

I hope this helps other people experiencing the same issue as I am experiencing.

I think you can just add a ban for the name TeamSleep on your TS server, should be good enough as work around.
