Yes i also did not really understand the reply.
So let me split that sentence.
Both are cases that will whipe your server and it's settings. You did not paste the old ts3server.sqlitedb into the server folder.
OR
You did delete the old ts3server.sqlitedb from the server folder.

Wait, so NOT overwrite ALL files? I am surprised, the upgrade txt doesn't say to NOT overwrite that file, it just says "overwrite all files"... But ok now I learned and I hope others will learn about this before doing same mistake!
overwrite all existing files in your servers installation folder with the
new versions from the download package.
d) Select and copy all files from the newly generated directory "teamspeak3-server_win32" into
your existing server installation directory
You have to overwrite all files. Because there is no .sqlitedb file in the new files, it will not overwrite any. Makes sense, doesn't it?
You should not host a server if you don't know that.
I answered this already
Use a backup or the right ts3server.sqlitedb to get everything back. You did not paste the old ts3server.sqlitedb into the server folder.
OR
You did delete the old ts3server.sqlitedb from the server folder.
There is no way to get it solved if you don't have that old file.

Still I had that old file in there (as it wasn't overwritten) and still it asked me for a "Berechtigungsschlüssel".
That's impossible.
My teamspeak3 server runs on my Linux machine as a service so I first stopped the service before doing the update.
I then backed up my teamspeak3 directory in case of issues so I could roll back.
I extracted the new version of the server specifically telling tar to overwrite existing files.
I then restarted the service. All good, no issues came up.
So my problem is that in my teamspeak3 client it still reports the old version number as the server version!
How do I update the server to newest version without losing my information? I am updating from 3.0.10.3 to 3.0.13.6 both 32 bit. I did read the server_upgrade.txt -
>>>Actually, updating a server is very easy. Just download the latest TeamSpeak 3 Server release from
our downloads page and overwrite all existing files in your servers installation folder with the
new versions from the download package.
Example for Windows 32-Bit:
a) Navigate your web browser to http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads
b) Unzip the download package "teamspeak3-server_win32-<VERSION>.zip" to a directory of your
choice
c) Shutdown your running TeamSpeak 3 Server instance
d) Select and copy all files from the newly generated directory "teamspeak3-server_win32" into
your existing server installation directory
e) Start your TeamSpeak 3 Server instance
f) Use the TeamSpeak 3 Client to connect to a virtual server running in your TeamSpeak 3 Server
instance and click the server name to verify that your server has been updated successfully
I did all this and nothing works. Reading the other posts in this forum the way to update is clear as mud.
So why does this forum say solved when nothing is solved and I can't get a response? Why did a moderator move my post? Is there any support?

Hello. How would I go on and update from 3.0.13.6 to 3.0.13.8 on a Ubuntu headless server?
I didn't install it from the Ubuntu repo, I installed it from downloads here. I do not remember which guide I followed, but I installed it as a new user.
