Ts3 server FREENOM custom port setup help?

    Hi!

I really like the service that freenom provide (12345.tk) domains etc. But I got a little problem with it and I'm wondering if someone have the solution or it's impossible to do with this service provider.

So the problem is that I have more than 1 virtual servers that means I have to use non-default port either for a virtual server. I want to associate my domain/DNS with the iport combination, but the problem is that freenom doesn't have SRV record.

I'm asking is it possible to forward the domain/DNS with non-default(9989) ts3 server port without SRV record?

Freenom provide A, AAAA, CNAME, LOC, MX, NAPTR, RP, TXT records

    Thanks for the help!

    Hello,

i think first you need, is some information, about what those records do:

A Can only be used to forward a domain to a IPv4 address.
AAAA Can only be used to forward a domain to a IPv6 address.
CNAME Can only be used to forward a domain to an other Domain.
LOC Is not interesting at all. Only used for sharing precise geolocation information.
MX Can only be used to forward a domain to an email server.
NAPTR Can only be used to let a special Service like SIP point to an existing record.
RP RP=Responsible Person. Can only be used to asign a responsible person to this entry.
TXT More or less what the name says. Does nothing for DNS, just prints out a text. Usefull for informations / keys.

So none of this services would help you with SRV.
But don`t give it up, you have the A record and Teamspeak brings a serverside feature called TSDNS.
That should help with your problem.

But keep in mind that TSDNS is no real valid DNS.

Dont use freenom, they will revoke your domains whenever the fuck they want and will start publishing ads on it.

Just wondering why you would use a domain instead of TeamSpeak nicknames? What´s better than an integrated solution?

But we are not freenom. Why do you ask us?

Standardized interoperability. Any standard is better than ad-hoc would-be-solutions, like TSDNS.
And SRV RR is DESIGNED to solve exactly this problem: discover services on the domain.
