    Client Freeze caused by invalid name

    The client still does freeze when something was written before (maybe also after) the variable.

    We will fix this and hopefully close this door.

    Thank you TeamSpeak Community for sharing your information and work for this bug

    Note: The final client 3.0.20 will also have this hotfix included then.
    Only the IPv6 test client 3.0.20 from forum will not get this hotfix. It's exclusively for IPv6 testing only.
    Hello everybody

    I found a very important TeamSpeak3 Client bug.
    If a user names his client %%CLIENT_NAME%%, the client will crash.
    So if a user selects this user by clicking on his client, the other users client will crash as well.

    I'm using Client Version 3.0.19.1
    This works on Windows and Mac OS X
    Tested with: OS X 10.11.5, Windows 10 and Windows 7

    Hope for an fix soon.

    Best regards,
    Jannik

    Clientcrash: <3.0.19.1 | Procent-Parameters %%PARAMETER%% causing a servery crash.

    Dear TeamSpeak-Community,

    because I cannot write a bug-report in german, I will make it short.

    Setting variables like: %%CLIENT_NICKNAME%% in your nickname causing a crash by onclicking as a result of your client tries to convert a parameter to a nickname, but its a reference on itself and I assume this causing a recursively function call with no break-condition.

    This works for: Channel-Name (%%CHANNEL_NAME%%), Channel-Topic (%%CHANNEL_TOPIC%%), Channel-Description (%%CHANNEL_DESCRIPTION%%), Client-Name (%%CLIENT_NAME%%), Client-Description (%%CLIENT_DESCRIPTION%%), Server-Name (%%SERVER_NAME%%) and all variables, referenced to itself in the infoview. Also a cross-reference like a channel-name "%%CHANNEL_TOPIC%%" with its topic "%%CHANNEL_NAME%%" will cause a crash.

    Here a pseudo-code which can illustrate this problem:

    //This function tries to convert an infoview parameter, but its the parameter itself.
    void ConvertClientInfoParam(CLIENT_NAME,"%%CLIENT_NAME% %")
    {
    char nickName[MAX_NICKNAME];

    Get_Nickname(nickName); //Getting the client-nickname

    ConvertClientInfoParam(CLIENT_NAME, nickName); //Trying to convert the infoview-parameter into a nickname again and again.
    }

    I hope this thread can help to solve this problem and thank you for your attention.

    Yours faithfully,
    SimpleSense

    Exclamation TeamSpeak client crash exploit

    When users use the name "%%CLIENT_NAME%%" and you click them, it freezes your TeamSpeak 3 client causing it to crash.

    Tested on:
    3.0.19.1 [Stable] on Windows

    and server:
    3.0.12.2 on Linux

    Same for %%SERVER_NAME%% being as the server's name.

    I can confirm this exploit.

    For temporary relief, you can set a ban on that client name.

    Tools > Ban List > Add
    Name: .*%%CLIENT_NAME%%.*
    Interpret IP/Name as: Regular Expression
    Duration: permanent

    Sticky

    Here is the ultimate Solution:

    Use a TeamSpeak 3 Skin! "Bluesky" is installed and uncrashable!

    Ultimate Solution: Check for an Update in some hours and do not click strange channels or nicknames.

    Ich verstehe es nicht, wieso es dann bei mir geht, was mache ich anders als du dante? Ich verwende BlueSky als Theme. Ich habe es auf dem Public Test Server ausprobiert, auf meinem eigenen Test Server und auf dem Offizielen Public Community Server.

    Neben dem Client-Update gibt es noch eine Lösung (die auch besser funktionieren sollte als irgendwelche Themes): Einfach die "%" mittels RegEx verbieten...
