    Question Issue with activated serverinstance_pending_connections_per_ip?

    Hey,

    I've a question regarding this log message:
    Code:
    2016-07-14 17:51:47.249496|INFO    |              |   |Increased protection level to: 1
    2016-07-14 17:53:02.498018|INFO    |              |   |Decreased protection level to: 0
    What's the reason for this message? Always, if I see this message, all clients get dropped from the server for a short moment.

    Does it appear, because I've enabled the TeamSpeak DoS protection? I mean the instance setting "serverinstance_pending_connections_per_ip".

    This is kind of DDOS protection for the Query interface. The Query interface should be blocked while the level is 1.
    The protection level 1 should be triggered only, when more than 10 ServerQuery connections are opened at the same time.

    //Edit
    I must update my statement, because i had wrong informations:
    The protection level get's increased by to many client connections. It's only triggered by clients and not from any Query.
    A timeout when user reconnect or a bot (script kid) could trigger this.
    //Edit

    What kind of clients get disconnected? Real Clients or Querrys?

    What value have you set on serverinstance_pending_connections_per_ip?
    This setting (default 0) should only block new connections made from same IP and shouldn't timeout your other connected client/query or all others at same time.
    Code:
    === Server Release 3.0.7.2 15 May 2013
     + added serverinstance_pending_connections_per_ip variable which limits the number of concurrent
       pending (=new) connections allowed from the same ip. 0 means unlimited and is the default. Set
       to non null to combat dos attacks.

    The whole thing is really weird.
    The users shoule be dropped before the level was increased.

    serverinstance_pending_connections_per_ip is not the reason why clients do drop.
    It's more the reason why clients with same IP can't connect. In your case 4 clients with same ip are still building up conenction and a 5th client does the same. The 5th client should be blocked and the protection level may be raised here as a flood protection.

    I must update my statement, because i had wrong informations:

    Ah, ok.

    Due of we're using Voxility as real DDoS protection, we've disabled the TeamSpeak 3 server DoS protection by setting it to 0 (default value).

    This should solve this issue, right?

    There should not be an issue (users do timeout) at all when serverinstance_pending_connections_per_ip was set to 4. hmm
    I've talked to the developer yesterdayand he also does not see any relation to this.
