Server Crashing - Error Opening Avatar File

    Quick question, I host a commercial teamspeak server on a dedicated box. Every day, multiple times a day, for the last few days the teamspeak server will randomly fail and everyone will lose connection. On the box the client is still running and hasn't crashed, I have to close it and restart it for it to work again. In the logs, this error occurs before every crash;

    Error opening file "files\virtualserver_1\internal/avatar_jbmdppgjcmicannpdalcamamaaajcbjmndlobmad":

Why is the server attempting to open this file? My server admin seems to think that is might be a hostile file by a ts user. Anyone able to help me in plain language? Appreciate it.

Server 3.0.13.6 does solve the problem
    http://www.teamspeak.com/downloads

That is not related to a crash or your timeouts and there is no crash at all in your crashreport.
Please show the first lines and the last one for more details.

That message appears because a iOS user does join the server.
There is a known bug in latest iOS client that requests his own avatar on connect. This will be fixed in next iOS update.
The server prints the error when the user has no avatar and this is absoloutly the right reaction of the server.

    iOS/Android Client let user timeout

When a person on a phone(iOS and Android) disconnects from the server everyone loses connection and are unable to reconnect until the server is restarted. The server stays running on the box until it is shut down manually.

The problem is actually the connection from the client to the server. Please check if there are any attacks on your server while the problems occurred and check if there are any network problems on the part of the computer or the DDoS Protection

I'm having the same issue. Once an Android (maybe ios as well, but I don't have one to try) user disconnects normally, the server will disconnect all remaining users, and won't accept new connections until the server process is restarted. This just started with version 3.0.13.5 64bit, running on Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

Sounds like these users send something bad. We had such problem with android users in the past.
Could you both send me your server address here or in a private message? I just wantto see how these clients would connect to your servers.

I wasn't able to reprodcue that on Windows 7 /10 with stable mobile clients.
Do you run any tool on your server?

I run a private server for me and two other people. I am the user who uses the Android client, and I'm not sending in anything bad, I can guarantee that When I disconnect, either on purpose or through a network error, the other two users are immediately disconnected and no one can reconnect until I restart the server. I upgraded the server to 3.0.13.5 on Monday and that is when the problem started. I'll send you a PM with my server address.

    Server stops responding to packets

    Hello,

i have problem with server. After some time srever just stops responding to anything (clients get dc and unable to reconnect). On whireshark i see that all packets are still reaching my server but there is no answer from ts3server process. Does anyone had similar problem and can post any solution pls?

I wasn't able to connect to the server. Seems to be offline

Could create a dumpfile of the running server process for us? We are unbale to reproduce that issue and such dump file would help our developers.
How to (to hold the file as small as possible):
    1. Start your server
    2. Connect with 1 pc user and one Android/iOS user
    3. Now let the user iOS/Android user disconnect
    4. Wait till the PC user timed out
    5. Now open your Task Manager and navigate to the Processses tab
    6. Right click the ts3server process and choose to create a dumpfile.

Hah, figures. Just bad timing. I used it last night but didn't restart the process after exiting my android client, so it was running but not accepting connections. Dump file will be coming in a few minutes.

This dump was not what I expected. It shows a server idling normally. I have some questions:
    1. Was this dump created when the ts3server was not accepting new clients any more?
    2. When the ts3server is not accepting new clients, can you still connect to the query port?

Yes, this dump was created after I disconnected the android client, and it kicked out the desktop client I had connected. It was unable to reconnect, as has been happening. However, I just tried again, and while the server is down for the clients it does appear I can connect to the server query port. I don't use it much so I'm not sure if I can troubleshoot anything else from here or not, but I can connect.

you can test 3.0.13.6 beta 1 to see if this problem is resolved: http://dl.4players.de/ts/releases/pr...0.13.6-Beta-1/

Yes, the new beta does seem to fix the issue, disconnecting the android client has no effect on the other users or the server. Thanks, I appreciate all the help.

I don't have the crash reports, but we have nailed it down to anytime an IOS user connects to the Teamspeak and then disconnects - it crashes the entire server.
