Update 3.1 broke all my Bookmarks & Identities etc.

I was forced to update to the damn 3.1 version and in the process lost ALL of my plugins, identities and settings. How can i get them back? I am on 10+ servers on which I have various groups, not to mention the ages i spent setting up my shortcuts and tweaking the settings.

    Where can I find them???

This is the third report today =/
We will investigate into this problem!

You can get your Bookmarks, identities and settings back. Plugins need to be updated manually from you and isn't bug.
The client did create a backup of your bookmarks, identities and settings etc.
    - Stop the client.
    - Go into your config folder %appdata%/TS3client.
    - Now rename the settings.db to something else.
    - You should see a settings.db_pre-sync.... and ts3clientui_qt.secrets.conf.bak
    - Make a copy of both files.
    - Now rename the copies to settings.db and ts3clientui_qt.secrets.conf.
    - Start the client

I would like to know if this did work for you.
And I also like to know Your operating system and which hardware (CPU, Mainboard or laptop manufacturer) you use.

Thank you. Seems to have worked... you might want to make this thread sticky, or put this issue into FAQ

    Exclamation Broken Updates...

Maybe you guys should think twice about pushing broken updates to people, before breaking their stuff...

    I'm glad it worked!
We better fix this bug, so we don't need any FAQ.

We expected that their could be problems with the database update but nothing bad during the internal alpha tests and public beta (august 2016).

I also had this problem. The solution worked like a charm, thank you for that.

    If it can help:
I updated yesterday, after the update everything was normal and I made an account (using the options menu, I ignored the create/sign-in wizard that starts when you start the client) but chose to not sync stuff (I just wanted to see what it was).
Today after reboot I start teamspeak again (this is the second time I start the updated client) and everything was gone.

Your information may help us a lot! We will test this out!

We'd like to see what happend in your client.
Could you (and anyone else in here) please send me your last client logs %appdata%/TS3client/logs in a private message?

    I've sent them.

Another detail I remember: when starting the client for the second time, it also asked to login to my teamspeak account and I just closed that dialog. After that I wanted to join a server from my bookmarks and I discovered the settings were gone.
I think I unchecked the 'stay logged in on this computer' option when I made an account in the first run.

Thanks, we have a theory for this.
You will have your missing Bookmarks when you login to your account.
Can you (and all others) validate this?

    Your logs showed us following:
    You started the client
--> We convert all Bookmarks, identities
You create an account and select to sync in that dialog, but you choose to logout for next session.
--> We move your all items to your Sync Account. All Items only do exist when you are logged in.
You start the client again and only have local items whiche are none at this moment, because your items got moved into your account and you are not logged in.

"Stay logged in on this computer" is needed to get your items.

When I login, it indeed restored the bookmarks & indentities etc.

The weird thing is that I clearly remember unselecting the sync button when I made my account.
It may be possible to me that it only synced when I did some testing this morning, because I probably logged in with the sync setting enabled.

Ok, this feedback "having items in account" relieves some sorrows in our Team!

Some questions are left for us and we hope you remember what you did

    1. Where did you create the account? Was in the Options dialog?
It looked like you started the client and around 1 hour later you did create the account.

    2. Did you deactivate Synchronize in the first dialog that came up directly after the update?
2.1 Or did you deactivate it afterwards in Options?

    3. Did you deactivate Synchronize before or after you started to create the account?

    4. Was the mentioned "stay logged in on this computer" enabled or disabled when you did create the account?

    1. I used the options dialog to create the account. (I did not want to create an account because I wouldn't need it, but I wanted to check out what these badges etc are so I eventually did make one some time later).

    2. I never touched anything in the dialogs that appear after startup, I just close them.
2.1 Deactivate what exactly? I always disabled the sync option before creating the account or logging in.

    3. Before

    4. As far as I can remember, I always disabled it.

I found 1 thing that could be behave a bit different as expected when I turn of Synchronize under options, but do not press the Apply.
Now I create an account and press OK or Apllay in that options dialog.

    The result was:
The items got added to my Sync Account and Sync was deactivated afterwards and my items seem to be lost.

That probably is exactly how it happend. As a result, I never thought it had synchronized in the beginning so I never tried to turn it on to see if the settings would come back (which they did after you suggested me to turn on sync).

I also did not expect it to delete my bookmarks and make them only available when I'd log in. I thought there may be some kind of offline/local profile wich would be used when you are not signed in to myTeamSpeak, but that is a different discussion.

We will change that behaviour in our next update to improve such things.
Pressing the Apply or OK button in Options -> myTeamspeak will no longer be needed, when you change the Synchronization settings.

The next client will inform users about that, when they deactivate Synchronization but do own a Synced item.

We are thankful for all the feedback!
