Channel Crash at Latest versions 3.1.4 and 3.1.4.2

    Hello,
I would like to post this thread to report a bug when creating a channel named : ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦

Whenever I try to create or join or even move people from that channel My TS3 Client Crashes and I couldn't even delete it. So I had to delete it using YatQa.

I even updated to 3.1.4.2 but same thing.

So, whenever someone come and create a channel with that name .. people crash.

It would be great if you look into this bug and fix it asap.

What server version is running and what plugins do these users use?
We already had this report, but never could reproduce it.

We have no clue why you crash. We could imagine that other software is involved here.
Do you have a client log or better a crashdump?

    Crashdumps are located under %appdata%/TS3Client/crashdumps

This crash still happens on version 3.1.5 - server version 3.0.13.8.

As you can see, those characters exceed the maximum a channel name can have (although being only 36)

Cannot find my crashdump and it doesn't appear to report the error to TeamSpeak team, it goes straight to TeamSpeak3 Client has stopped working.

I can assure this issue only occurs on Windows.

Some info on length: TeamSpeak uses three completely different units for string length:
    • Characters: Used by e.g. channel names
    • Transmitted escaped bytes: Used by voice clients to measure channel descriptions, topics, etc., also used by the server to limit the total length of a single query command to 9203
    • UTF-8 bytes: Used by by the server and query software in places where the client uses transmitted escape bytes.

Where: characters ≤ UTF-8 bytes ≤ transmitted escaped bytes
This inequation is e.g. the reason why setting long channel descriptions via query will break the snapshot feature for your server.

You could try to turn off custom plugins. Maybe one of them have problems?

I have tried it with a fresh TS3 installation and no plugins installed and it resulted in a crash! This is still reproducible for me and some users in the latest 3.2.2 client and latest 3.3.x servers
Please note that this only occurs on channel names

It's still not reproducible for us.
What needs the user (who does crash) to do to trigger the crash? Only be on server or click on channel or ...?
