Teamspeak Client instantly crashes (on a sensitive file system)

Hello,
I reinstalled my Macbook Air on Mac OS Sierra. Freshly installed.

After downloading Teamspeak it instantly crashes after accepting the EULA. After that it crashes instantly after every launch.

Mac OSX 10.12.5

we will evaluate why your client does crash.

Is there a reason why you selected a non "case insensitive" file system on your hard drive?

Actually case-sensetive filesystem is quite helpful for web-development as most hosters (are on linux). On linux case-sensetive filesystems are more than common.

However if the only solution is to use teamspeak with incase-sensetive I'll reinstall and add another case-sensitive partition for developemt.

I'm quite suprised that this (maybe) causes so much incompatibility as linux is case-sensetiv. Even steam does not support case-sensetive.

I can reproduce a crash on a case sensitive file system but my log differs from yours.
Our developers had no time yet to check my crash dumps.

Note: I don't see this as fixed in the near future.

TeamSpeak 3.1.5 crashes on start.

I'm using Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.6).

The log is from client 3.1.0.1 and not from latest version 3.1.5.

Please try again with client 3.1.5 http://www.teamspeak.com/en/downloads.html

My bad. I was tried if any older version would not crash so I forgot to check.

Since 3.1.6 is released I got a dump of that crashing.

Hey all,

The TeamSpeak client crashes immediately after first accepting the EULA on MacOS. Trying to reopen the client will cause the client to immediately crash to the error report window.

This is on MacOS 10.12.6 with TeamSpeak clients 3.1.5 and 3.1.6.

I can attach the error report if that would help (just need help on where it is saved).

Do you use a case sensitive file system? In case of this is currently not supported and we know that the client will crash on start.

You can find the crashdump under the hidden folder

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/TeamSpeak 3/crashdumps

Yes, I do.

But I cannot phantom any reason why you would have problems with that. Never mind, I'll just put the App in a case insensitive container for now.

I'm not sure yet because that topic is still not solved yet.
I guess the client searches for needed files that could not be found and loaded due the name on a case sensitive file system.

FYI, APFS (due to hit in High Sierra very shortly) is case-sensitive, so it should be high-priority for TeamSpeak to fix this bug soon before it affects all MacOS users.

Workaround:

Wasn't aware case sensitive file systems were buggy. Managed to find a workaround at the moment, since have a case sensitive file system is necessary for software development since my stuff is deployed to linux.

Apparently just symlinking the "Resources" directory to the lower cased "resources" directory allows it to boot... The following command fixes that.

sudo ln -s "/Applications/TeamSpeak 3 Client.app/Contents/Resources" "/Applications/TeamSpeak 3 Client.app/Contents/resources"
