Client tries to load icons from wrong server

I'm only visiting 2 TS3 servers, one of them is mine.
    TS3 client Windows 3.1.4.2, qt version 5.6.1
    TS3 server linux 64bit version 3.0.13.6.

Now (not always but more often) when I start my TS3 client as admin I see this message in the TS3 client log:
    Code:
<21:43:18> The icon for server group "Unknown (0)" was not found.
<21:43:18> The icon for server group "Unknown (0)" was not found.
<21:43:18> The icon for channel "" (9384566) was not found.
<21:43:18> The icon for channel "" (9384565) was not found.
<21:43:18> The icon for channel "" (9384554) was not found.
<21:43:18> The icon for channel "" (9384545) was not found.
So I went looking on the server and indeed those icons numbers do not exist. In the server log it says this:
    Code:
    2017-07-06 19:43:13.876244|INFO | | |Error opening file "files/virtualserver_1/internal/icons/icon_984378529": No$
    2017-07-06 19:43:13.886182|INFO | | |Error opening file "files/virtualserver_1/internal/icons/icon_1312347573": N$
    2017-07-06 19:43:13.943350|INFO | | |Error opening file "files/virtualserver_1/internal/icons/icon_1240818773": N$
    2017-07-06 19:43:13.943469|INFO | | |Error opening file "files/virtualserver_1/internal/icons/icon_3804270974": N$
    2017-07-06 19:43:14.044734|INFO | | |Error opening file "files/virtualserver_1/internal/icons/icon_3327715960": N$
    2017-07-06 19:43:14.048771|INFO | | |Error opening file "files/virtualserver_1/internal/icons/icon_1117955204": N$
    q
The rest of the N$ should be No such file or directory, so they are not present.

The only icons in that directory are these icons:
    icon_2312038729
    icon_3193574299
    icon_4282815502
    icon_444934465
    icon_513685093
    icon_703137095
which I believe are custom icons I uploaded.

So I started investigating and in my Windows 7 to /AppData/Roaming/ts3client/cache/myservercode/icons and those files are not there.

Now I had a look in /AppData/Roaming/ts3client/cache/otherservercode/icons and the "missing" icons are present in there.

So it seems the TS3 client is caching icons from the other server I visit, and is trying to load them when I logout and want to visit my own server afterwards, which ofcourse does not have these icons.
And so the error notices in the client as wel in the server log appear.

Is this a bug or what is causing this?
Because as far as I know, the client should not search for the icons of one server on a completely different server.

I'm not sure but I thought this started to happen after the upgrade to 3.1.4.2.

    Update
We can reproduce this now. See Post #6 for more details

    -------------------------- Original post below

    - It's more simple. There are icons set on groups and channels, but the icon was deleted from server's hard drive.
Remove the icon from these targets or upload the set icons to fix this.

    - The client cache doesn't matter here when icons do not exist. The client requests them and the server replies with these errors.
The client only translates them and shows them for the user.

    - The number shows the ID of the group and channel. It doesn't show you the missing icon name.
Client 3.1.5 will show the names for the targets.
    Code:
<11:56:55> The icon for the server was not found.
<11:56:55> The icon for client "dante" was not found.
<11:56:55> The icon for channel group "Guest" was not found.
<11:56:55> The icon for server group "Server Admin" was not found.
<11:56:55> The icon for channel "Default Channel" was not found.
    - All icons in internal/icons/ are custom uploaded icons.

No I'm sorry, I think you did not read correctly what I wrote and it's a quite different case then the other ones.

    I'll try to explain again.
The client requests them and the server replies with these errors.
Yes, but the icons only exist on server 2, and the client is requesting them from server 1 as I explained, where those icons never existed!
That is the issue. This is completely different from what is happening to the others in this thread, so I don't agree it's merged here because it's nothing I can solve. It looks like a caching issue or a bug. This does not belong in a resolved thread because it isn't resolved.

The number shows the ID of the group and channel.
And server 1 where I have this issue, does not have those ID's, they belong to server 2.
And I own server 1 and this has the same icons, we only have 6 icons and the default icons. There was never something deleted, I'm the only one able to access it.

So this is a different issue and can't be fixed by reuploading to the server, because I never used them on server 1.

They are existing on server 2, where I don't have this problem. And server 2 is a very large community server in Germany, which I don't own but only visit.

I did read what you wrote and i understood what you mean but this makes no sense at this moment that the client requests icon that arn't set on a server.
The only and current explanations would be that the client messed that up while 2 tabs where opened or the server database is modified or the path on the server was redirected.

Can you give me login details for both servers? I/we want to test it out on our own (you can do it in a private message)

Correct!! This is exactly the point. It makes no sense.
And I did not have 2 tabs open either.

I will give you the login details from both servers, but unfortunately it does not happen every time. But it happened already serveral times after login out from server 2 (used disconnect from current) and then loggin in the server 1.

I can reproduce it and know the reason.
    Code:
<15:35:49> The icon for server group "Unknown (0)" was not found.
<15:35:49> The icon for channel "" was not found.
<15:35:49> The icon for channel "" was not found.
<15:35:49> The icon for channel "" was not found.
<15:35:49> The icon for channel "" was not found.
<15:35:49> The icon for server group "Unknown (0)" was not found.
<15:35:49> The icon for server group "Unknown (0)" was not found.
<15:35:49> The icon for server group "Unknown (0)" was not found.
<15:35:49> The icon for server group "Unknown (0)" was not found.
    ..
    ...
    ...
    ....
This happens for me, when i join server 2 and connect to server 1 (in same tab) while the mass of icons on server 2 are still loading.
The client doesn't stop the transfers before before the tab connects to the new server.

You may be right that this is a bug or at least an unwanted behavior.
We will discuss that issue and will give you updates if we have news.

Thank you for your patience with me .
I will move our posts later to Bug section

Oh very nice that you were able to reproduce it. Indeed I remember I was switching servers quite fast.

Thank you for your patience with me .
And also thank you for your patience with me too. Nice we could point the finger on this. Thank you!

    Channel icon empty

Was für ein Channel soll damit gemeint sein?
    Code:
<22:56:15> Das Icon für Channel "" wurde nicht gefunden.
<22:56:15> Das Icon für Channel "" wurde nicht gefunden.
<22:56:15> Das Icon für Channel "" wurde nicht gefunden.
<22:56:15> Das Icon für Channel "" wurde nicht gefunden.
<22:56:15> Das Icon für Channel "" wurde nicht gefunden.
    Edit by mod
A channel that doesn't exist on current server, because icon was tried to download from another but already disconnected server.

log spammed with file download from (id:0), '/icon_xxxxxx

Hey everyone i got that Problem that i get my logs spammed by this error messages:
    02.11.2018 22:30:09 VirtualServerBase Info file download from (id:0), '/icon_1200755926' by client 'XXX'(id:XXX)
    02.11.2018 22:30:09 VirtualServerBase Info file download from (id:0), '/icon_1447980211' by client 'XXX'(id:XXX)
    02.11.2018 22:30:09 VirtualServerBase Info file download from (id:0), '/icon_3749324128' by client 'XXX'(id:XXX)

The TS3 Server Im using is Linux SERVER 64-BIT 3.5.0 as you download it without any changes.

I cant really replicate that error because if I for example delete all icons on the virtual server with that issue, reupload all icons and set them new, everything works fine.
Sometimes i get my logs spammed again after restarting/updating the server but not always, sometimes it just happens to start and it keeps going. and it is not always the same virtual server and also not all virtual servers at the same time.

When i open filezilla and open **/internal/icons folder to search for the icon for example "icon_1447980211" it is not there so i cant delete it or do whatever...

I found an old post from April 2016 talking about having that problem since 3.0.12 but they found/posted no solution for that issue.
Im running on the latest version 3.5.0 and this issue still pops up from time to time but when it pops up the only thing i can do right now is delete all icons via filezilla (using the ts client is not enough!) and reupload them.
This would be an ok option if it would only be my small little virtual server but i really dont want to delete all icons on my friends virtual server all the time and tell them they have to reupload everything and set the icons new for everything.

Also I have to check if this issue popped up again all the time.
Just to give you an idea how bad it can get: on an virtual server my friend is using for his clan with around 5-15 ppl using ts. Log started 26.08.2018 and on the 29.08.2018 it was already 68MB big. Thats a lot of ".log" within 3 days....

    Thank you guys in advance!

ps. I tried to explain it in english as good as i could to reach more ppl. native im german so please excuse my potato english XD

Clients do cause this when they start to download icons from another server, but disconnect and connect to another in same tab before the old download did finish.

    In short: It's a client bug :/

sooo... you are working on a fix for this?

because not logging up/downloads to avoide that log spam is not a real option :/
