Question Linux Server Requirements anno 2017

    Hi.

I have a Teamspeak with ~ 100 users at the same time.

Will this VPS cut run the TeamSpeak server without lag?

    • 2 GB RAM
    • 1 CPU Core
    • 30 GB SSD Storage
    • 2 TB Transfer
    • 40 Gbps Network In
    • 1000 Mbps Network Out

The VPS running: Ubuntu 17.04 and is no-gui

    Thanks

    Probably yes.

If the vps provider really gives 1 CPU and not only 0.1 CPU, and if the real always really available network bandwidth exceeds circa 1 Mbps, then yes. If you find that answer strange, keep in mind that hosters stack dozens and hundredths of vps machines onto one physical machine. The quality of the provider and of the vps can be measured how real are the resources they specify, especially at peak usage hours.

Hard to compare the information. The network speed seems to be rounded. One Pentium I core with 100 MHz is not one Xeon core. Real network speed and puzzle precompute say more than what you posted. For example, my old VPS was this and could handle 200 users:
    - 800 MB RAM
    - 15 GB HDD
    - 500 Mbit/s up/down
    - Puzzle precompute 7.5s

My current smallest VPS is this:
    - 128 MB RAM
    - 2 GB HDD
    - 45 Mbit/s up
    - 250 Mbit/s down
    - Puzzle precompute 29s
That one can still run TeamSpeak and would probably also handle some hundred users.

However, you won't find that out until you pay for the server. The second one was a 2 year contract, so that one was risky. You could ask people who own one from that ISP. For TeamSpeak, routing is more important than most other details, though. You can't find that out either, because many ISPs host their websites on cloudflare. That shows how convinced they are of their own products which they advertise as DDoS-protected.

I don't think you will face any issue until your VPS provider having issues on main node like overselling etc.
