Force users to connect via subdomain

Hello, I have configured subdomain for my IP address recently. Is it possible to request this subdomain to connect? Like if someone typed the numerical IP, he would not be able to connect?

    Thank You

That's not your problem to solve. If anybody uses direct IPort to connect to your server instead of the SRV domain record you gave them they only digging their own grave for times you migrate your server to a different IPort.

It's not possible to force people to connect via dns name. If someone enters the correct IP address and port, he will be able to connect.

Only way would be changing IP and port and redirecting the subdomain to that.

I still don' see why this should be Linux specific?

But yanni is right, if you buy a bunch of ips for the server and change the bindings every 10 mins or so then they'll use the serverlist (which connects via ip not hostname) or use the domain.

Tho i'm not sure if and how the listening ips can be changed in runtime.
