Using the priv key to assign both server and channel group

Hi, i did some testing using the priv key to assign both the server and channel group and its not working as i want. I use the html option in code generator for the priv key but after its logged in, it always gives me server admin and thats not right.

I am trying to assign a website member to a server group called members and a channel group of voice.

I did check the box for both channel and server before i created the code. Why would it make me server admin when i have assigned those groups as other permissions?

So which do i create the key for, server group or channel group?

UPDATE: after more testing the issue is that it is assigning server admin as well as member in the server groups section. The channel groups section is fine.

So if i edit the member the just take away the server admin group (leaving the member server group there) then it works perfectly as i want.

So now my question is what do i edit to just assign the member group and NOT the server group for the key.

That has nothing to do with privilege keys.

    German: http://yat.qa/ressourcen/definitione...men/#ext-links
    English: https://translate.google.com/transla...nks&edit-text=

So checking the channel checkbox in the Create Invite dialog only adds the current channel as default channel for the client clicking on the link. It doesn't assign them any permissions

And checking the server checkbox only helps people distinguish if the ip that the link was created on is still the same server.

Also what you ask for is not possible (as dante said). If you want to assign more than one group you have to give them more tokens or use a bot.

Using 2 Keys at once is not supported. You can only assign 1 target group per connect / manual key use.

The only reason why that user get's Server Admin is that the Key was generated for the Server Admin group.
I have no other explanation for this.

Have you checked which group the key belongs to before you/user used it?
Are you sure you did change the group on key generation?

    Here is my process..

    • I log in as server admin to generate a key - server admin shows SA group and members group, and channel admin group

    • Then i highlight the main top tier channel i want them to be able to access - NOT the VS but the first channel - everything else is sub channel to this

    • Then i choose permissions -> priv key

    • Then click create

    • Then on the window popup i select channel group and voice and then the main channel i have hightlighted

    • Then in description i type in membertest as the membername

    • Then i click create

    • Then click close to close the little box

    • Then i highlight the key and right click on it

    • Then click on use key as invitation

    • Then on the new popup i use the dropdown to select html code

    • Then i highlight the html code and copy it

    • Then i add one more parameter to the string right after port number which is &nickname=membertest

    • Then i click close and close again

    • Then i post that url as the webpage code

    • Then i disconnect from the TS server

    • Then i click the invitation link on the webpage

The html looks like this... (edited for security)

    <a href="ts3server://50.0.0.0?port=4879&nickname=membertest&password=%2 4UTbnt4vcxXX&token=4tJJewrCbXP9jSjREl">Invitation</a>

    and that should work correct?

Because this is your identity which already has these groups?

Im not sure i understand that. How it is my identity when i set it up as a new user? It should be just as if i have never logged in before. Once i kill the connection and then connect as the new user, it should treat me as the new user, not admin.

What am i not seeing or misunderstanding here?

Hover your mouse over the "Online since:" in your screenshot and check the total connections

That means you are not a new user but have visited the server 31 times before with that identity. This is where you got your groups from. That's why I said "your identity already has these groups".

Thanks, OK so does that mean i need to revisit how the groups are set up, or does that mean that i need to unsubscribe from everything as the admin and then try it again?

When i created the members group i made a copy of the NORMAL server group and renamed it.

Under the voice channel groups-> virtual server -> administration section there is a greyed out item that says "use privilege keys to gain permissions" is that what i need to turn on?

    UPDATE:
I created an identity exactly how it should be with UT Members server group and voice channel group.
Then logged into TS with that identity.
Then i logged into TS in other tab as admin.
Then i created two priviledge keys, one for server and one for channel.
Then i tried them both from the website link.

    Same problem....

This is beginning to get very frustrating. I dont see how what i am trying to do should be so complicated. TS should do this quite easily and i dont understand why its not doing what i want. It seems to me that every time i try to use TS out of the normal log in and chat with friend for "gaming only" type use, it cant do what i want it to do.

I think you don't even understand how to create and use a second identity which is crucial for testing permissions. You should probably search for a already set-up server and chill on that one, sorry.

As a last resort you can try finding an article about how identities work in the FAQ: https://support.teamspeakusa.com/ind...dex/10/english
