That report makes no sense.

1. Why would you switch the device and generate a key afterwards and then you install the client on a third device???
I assume you use 2 devices?

2. The client will never ask for the recovery key when you change the device.
It asks you when the password for your account was reset. You didn't mention that part.
AFAIK the original key will only work when password was reset once.

We can't do anything. If the key isn't accepted after all this.
You could try what I wrote in post 2.
