    Just un-deserved and easy
Not really, eventually people will have to update past 3.1.8 when eventually another security bug pops up. So this wont matter regardless if they chose to remain below 3.1.8.

Well, they don't have to update their client, it's on your own.
It would take like a year, until everyone updates the teamspeak 3 client to the 3.1.8

    however:
the developer of this badge glitch announced something like: "If teamspeak's gonna fix this, I'll find another gltich to abuse and publicate that" I'm not sure but alot of users from him told me that so I guess it's true.

You can just force the minimum client version on your server, over time more and more people will update.

    Good for him?

User who don't like to update or complain that the bug still exists in their outdated client have no reason to complain.

Can we please stop all this off-topic discussions? This thread is only about the Badge bug and not about any version or user will not update or whatever.

    Thank you.

    Leaked teamspeak badges?

    Hello there,

Since a couple days many people on the teamspeak server where I'm currently an admin seem to have given themselves Teamspeak badges like: "Gamescom 2017", "Rocket beans TV Community", "Creator of 5 Teamspeak Addons", Creator of 3 Teamspeak Addons", "MIFCOM something something" and "Gaming Hero".

I asked some people and they told me that some codes might have been leaked that users can use to give themselves these badges. It's starting to get pretty ridiculous: https://gyazo.com/59af983d73ce965bd241bdd4b9d260f7 (The red O, Purple S and W, dark blue P and youtube icon are icons from the teamspeak server).

My question is: Is there a way to disable this on a teamspeak server? If not: Is a fix coming or something? I don't know if any other people have this problem but it makes the teamspeak look more like a baloon party than a teamspeak hahaha.

You wrote it needs a bigger fix to close the main problem (abusing badges). When gets it fixed? Is it on the to do list for the next version?

That is not that critical. TeamSpeak would have to share a user's myTeamSpeak ID (or a hash of it) so every client could check it. There currently is no sign of such thing.

Better would be a server side check. And the server still sends the that information to the client.
Sure the server should then check the myTeamSpeak ID is valid and the user is permitted to use this^^

We agree. A server side check is a must have.
It may be the only way to make sure only validated information is send out.

No just a function that the server does not accept everything the client tells him without verification.

It would have made sense in the first place. Integration of the badges feature is horrible, how It should have looked like:

    1. Client joins the server and if he has badges enabled he sends something like myteamspeak_uid=jhf98j289fj8293jf23fr23/sd=
    2. Server uses that UID to get some basic info about the user including the badges as a protobuf ( - or maybe if you want to be 3rdparty-dev friendly - json) array
    3. Server builds the badges string from the array and sends that to all other clients in the notifycliententerview

No abuse, no nothing (Except from the serveradmin maybe but thats way too hard to prevent)

You don't even need to request any information just signing it with a private Key should be enough. And it's possible to add the signature to the badge string. I guess this is the easiest and best performance way. TeamSpeak just hast to create a little backend which signs the new badge string with her private key and the clients could validate this sign by an hard-coded or event a requested (from MyTeamspeak.com) key.
