Mac Teamspeak 3 Client Crash after UPDATE:

Hi.
I updated the TeamSpeak 3 client on my Apple Computer (Operating System: Mountain Lion - 10.8.5)
and now the client (Teamspeak 3 version 3.1.8) repeatedly crashes and will not stay open
after I click to open it from the applications menu.

1. I first did the update. It caused the crash.
2. I deleted my old TeamSpeak 3 version completely.
3. Re-installed the fresh Teamspeak.exe from the website.
4. It crashed again and keeps doing so...

The program never did this before, please help!!

Please open path Library/Application Support/TeamSpeak 3/crashdumps on your Hard drive and attach at least the crash file.
What you could try is to rename the TeamSpeak 3 folder to test what happens with a fresh config.

Which client version was installed before?

Sorry, am a bit new to this (not used to programs crashing on me after an update).

There are several .zip files and 1 .dmp file. Not sure which to attach. Let me know and I'll reply with it promptly.

When you say 'rename', do you mean the applications shortcut name or a particular folder?

Previous client was: 3.0.19.4 -- from July 14 2016.

This is just a log file from folder logs and not a crash from folder crashdumps.
The log does not help.

You waited nearly 1 1/2 years with your till you decided to update your outdated client?

Yes, I waited 1.5 years to update...because usually when I update things - they no longer end up working.
Now that it forced me to update, so I did and now it stopped working as a result of the update.

The highlighted blue file is the one I sent you.



I'm not sure what else to do.

I know that you did send the .log file.
Send the complete .zip file

The problem for us when user waiting that long for updates is that it is hard to identify the problem.
Could be anything that happened from 3.1 to 3.1.8 and we changed/replaced/updated a lot for the client.

and what you still could try is what i mentioned in my first reply.
Another thing you could try is to install client 3.1 and 3.1.2, 3.1.3 etc. to see where your problem begins

I tested one:

3.1.7 (the one before this current one)...it crashed.

I'm going to sleep and I'll test the rest tomorrow and post results when done.

Hi,

I ran some tests, tossed the results into a spreadsheet for an easier comparison:



Most of the versions opened, but then proceeded to ask me for an update.
The last 3 versions (3.1.6, 3.1.7, 3.1.8) all crashed when I tried to open them.

The "error_report.app" prompts me with the same screenshot above in my initial post.

One thing I asked twice could you still try.

What you could try is to rename the TeamSpeak 3 folder to test what happens with a fresh config.?

You will not have any access to your bookmarks/identities etc but that's something you/we can fix, when the latest client starts working.

Hi.

I renamed the old Teamspeak 3 folder to "test", re-downloaded a new fresh client/config as requested.
It opened, then crashed again as before.

Not sure what else to try until maybe a new release..

I just noticed Mac OSX verison Teamspeak v3.19 was out...so I tried downloading that.
Again, it showed the same crash notification.

Any updates on why it keeps crashing?
