    I remember that there were some paths like ":/gfx/..." that will search both in the config and the binary directory, but i always forget what the correct syntax is

    Code:
    x: url(y:);
    'x': To be honest, in case of 'x' I only ever used background-image and image, I don't know if it supports more.

    'y' Any subfolder: gfx, styles, plugins, etc.

    Example: image: url(styles:DarkenTS/gfx/gui/arrows/up.svg);

    Wasn't there some way to shorten stylesarkenTS/gfx/gui/arrows/up.svg even more? so it takes the one from the current iconpack instead of a specific one?

    The test_plugin says
    Code:
         * The icon is optional, max length is 128 characters. When not using icons, just pass an empty string.
         * Icons are loaded from a subdirectory in the TeamSpeak client plugins folder. The subdirectory must be named like the
         * plugin filename, without dll/so/dylib suffix
         * e.g. for "test_plugin.dll", icon "1.png" is loaded from <TeamSpeak 3 Client install dir>\plugins\test_plugin\1.png
    which is not (atleast no longer) as i can use icons with their fullpath

    There's no need for the full path anyway. Just the relative path from after the config\plugins\plugin_name\ part.

    That depends on where you want to use it. According to your previous excerpt you're attempting to use it in a plugin menu (which would also mean this thread is in the wrong place). It's not possible to do this in a plugin menu, since the file is loaded from a predefined location.
