Why you guys hate Electron so much? From dev perspective it's actually pretty handy

It is. My guess is that people just don't want a Discord clone and/or don't want to spend 100 MB of RAM (which is nothing in our time^^)

We want a discord clone, but a better one :-)

Electron is pretty handy if you are know what you are doing.
There are chances that you are just create a slow RAM Hungry, Battery killing Monster.

But i think here is none who hates Electron. We just fear that TS5 will be "only" an new Client with the same Features from 2005 - But with a slightly new modern look. Possibily written with Electron/JS from an inexperienced Team

Well, at least the community will be able to fix/better customize that stuff then, since more people are experienced with JS than with Qt/Go/C#/C++, which would be the alternatives I guess.

Like you said, the performance will not be something we, as a community, should fear or worry about. Even when they have some performance problems at the start, they will tinker it out during beta.

I'm way more worried about features. For example, modern GIF support (be it Telegram/WhatsApp/Discord) is my personal highlight most of the time.
And I mean the GIF search feature, not rendering of GIFs. That is more like a basic no-brainer and should be included by default.

But I doubt TS will implement a GIF search.

Also we still don't know how they will handle Text Channels/Text Chats and client-slots etc on a server.

Hopefully we will get an answer tomorrow. Otherwise those 12-piece climax would be somewhat underwhelming, when they just give us the last piece and then... there is nothing. Only a badge code.

Because the idea of such a "piece-teaser" is that you get your desired item/object at the end of it.

Regarding treatment of the text channels with server slots, I would like to bring my previous post from this thread up.

As some of you know, with Discord you have the "text channels" and "voice channels". While I suspect that text channels will be implemented into the new TeamSpeak client major release, one thing would be really nice to have considering a basic TeamSpeak server can hold up to 32 users.

To battle this limitation to a great extent, and to transform TeamSpeak into more than a "run-on-demand program" and into a "constantly running communicator" (like Steam or Discord), is to add an unlimited amount of text-only users to the server.

Basically this would work like this:

The server has 100 unique users.
32 are online and connected to existing voice channels, thus filling the server's slot limitation provided by the lack of licensing on the server.
20 are online and not connected to any existing voice channel, however able to text freely with others by the use of the aforementioned text channels, as well as private message system.
The rest of these users are of course offline.

If an unallocated, online user would attempt to join a voice channel when the server is "full", then this action would return with an error "The amount of voice slots for this server is currently full.".

Thank you for reading and possibly considering this suggestion - it would be great to see this one make it into the live version, because this would open up the gates to TeamSpeak to people who just want to use the text, without being limited by the fact that most of the TeamSpeak communities use a 32-slot server, or use a pay-per-slot option with a lesser amount of slots from the ATHP.
As we're probably getting closer and closer to the public release of TeamSpeak 5 (beta) I do hope that they will consider doing something similar to this solution in order to appease to the customers who have opted to use Discord instead.

As long as voice is encrypted and we are able to host our own servers i will continue to use Teamspeak. Having control your own stuff is a luxury nowadays. I Refuse to use Discord on a daily basis because of us not having control. But to tell you the truth we just have to because everyone i know left Teamspeak my server is empty. We use to have at least average 80 to 100 active users.

Lets hope this will turn everything around if not? Discord it is boys....!

hmm...so the 12th one is out on FB and there is still no information about the release of microsite or the beta version itself. Very interesting. Now it will be hilarious if u release another puzzle image and show us channels and other features. Enough already 2 months have passed.

They don't necessarily get payed for that extra work either. They do it because they indentify with the product and want to create something they can be proud of.

I'm working in the field of software development myself and I can assure you that there is certainly a lot of stuff going on behind the curtains that the average customer doesn't know (and honestly doesn't care) about.

Also, I believe BIOS-TSI was joking so can we please stop this nonsense now?
