Yes, they do work on weekends. Actually, some of their employees spend a big portion of their free time gathering user feedback, coming up with their own ideas to further improve the product and doing extra work that they feel is necessary.

They don't necessarily get payed for that extra work either. They do it because they indentify with the product and want to create something they can be proud of.

Business hours do not represent the time that a company spends on developing a product. Business hours represent the time when you can expect someone to pick up the phone or open the door.

I'm working in the field of software development myself and I can assure you that there is certainly a lot of stuff going on behind the curtains that the average customer doesn't know (and honestly doesn't care) about.
