    Server 3.5.0 / Client 3.2.3 - Server is too old for this command

    RESOLVED - Server just needed a reboot. Initial problem was that I didn't know the install location (there were 2, /shrug). Then, systemd couldn't keep the process alive / was killing the process without a graceful shutdown. Nightly reboot of server, and it works. No idea what the problem was.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    I just updated my server from 3.0.13.8 to 3.5.0 (Ubuntu) and updated my clients to 3.2.3 (Win), and no I can't join to my server?

    What gives?

    I get the error that the server is too old for this command message. Which I find hilarious, because the server is obviously newer.

    Also, if no one can find a fix, or knows of a fix, where can I get server 3.2.3 (Linux/Ubuntu)?

    The only explanation is that started server is not stable version 3.5.0.
    Please check your logs and that the old server was stopped before you did the update.

    So, I did a clean install of 3.5.0 (by completely deleting the install directory, and the service was stopped/disabled), and it still did not work.

    I double checked my teamspeak.service;

    Code:
    [Unit]
    Description=TeamSpeak 3 Server
    After=network.target

    [Service]
    WorkingDirectory=/home/teamspeak/
    User=teamspeak
    Group=teamspeak
    Type=forking
    ExecStart=/home/teamspeak/ts3server_startscript.sh start inifile=ts3server.ini
    ExecStop=/home/teamspeak/ts3server_startscript.sh stop
    PIDFile=/home/teamspeak/ts3server.pid
    RestartSec=15
    Restart=always

    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    What do you suggest at this point?

    I tried to manually start it;

    Code:
    [email protected]:~$ sudo /home/teamspeak/ts3server_startscript.sh start inifile=ts3server.ini
    The server is already running, try restart or stop
    Logs folder does not exist. I blew away the old ones before backing them up, whoops.

    Hmm, I seem to be facing a permissions issue.

    Code:
    sudo /home/teamspeak/ts3server_startscript.sh restart inifile=ts3server.ini
    Stopping the TeamSpeak 3 server.cat: ts3server.pid: No such file or directory
    cat: ts3server.pid: No such file or directory
    done
    rm: cannot remove 'ts3server.pid': No such file or directory
    Starting the TeamSpeak 3 server
    TeamSpeak 3 server started, for details please view the log file
    Welp, I seem to have been in the wrong directory the whole time;

    What shenanigans is this? It goes on literally for miles! Well, just since I updated the instance.

    If I run

    Code:
    sudo /home/teamspeak/ts3server_startscript.sh start inifile=ts3server.ini
    It launches fine and I'm able to connect. There's something going on with the systemd process, methinks. Journalctl -xe didn't tell me anything useful.

    I changed "Restart=always" to "Restart=on-failure", and it launches for a brief moment then stops. Logs are unchanged from above.

    You must stop your old server before updating or running TeamSpeak.

    I have no idea what happened. systemd was killing the process without a graceful shutdown. My server is on a nightly reboot, and it's now working.

    I forgot the basics. lol.

    I appreciate all the help.

    How do I mark this as resolved?

    That's because your service unit is a garbage.
    See https://forum.teamspeak.com/threads/...n-based-distro for example.
