TS3 Server on Ubuntu behaves strangely

    Hi,

I'm trying to properly get a server set up on an Ubuntu machine. So I downloaded and tar'd the server.
I can now go 'startscript.sh start' and it starts the server. I then exit to my normla user, and everything runs as expected.

But if I go to the teamspeak user and start the server again, it goes "there's a .pid but the server seems to have died, let me start over.", which seems to fail because the server actually is still running.

Also if I try to stop the server it says pid is there but the server has died.

The log of the first start looks normal: Finds my old license has expired, downloads a new one, starts listening to ports.

The log of the second start confuses me, and I hope you can help me figure out what it means. All this is because I'm trying to start it as a service in init.d with update-rc, and it doesnt start on boot. But first things first, getting it to run properly (or show proper erorrs) at all. Here's the second log, starting with the error. Before that is system information and the license expiry stuff.

    Code:
2019-06-24 17:27:46.089161|ERROR |Accounting | |local accounting reports an already running instance, instance will shutdown
    2019-06-24 17:27:46.900229|INFO | | |Puzzle precompute time: 1289
    2019-06-24 17:27:46.900748|ERROR |FileManager | |bind failed on 0.0.0.0:30033; reason: Address already in use
    2019-06-24 17:27:46.900801|ERROR   |FileManager   |   |bind failed on [::]:30033; reason: Address already in use
2019-06-24 17:27:46.900820|ERROR |FileManager | |Could not bind filetransfer listen port on default addresses
2019-06-24 17:27:46.900832|CRITICAL|VirtualSvrMgr | |Could not start file manager 258 no network port available

Tell me if you need any more logs or clarification. This is some of my first steps with long-running things on Linux.

I would say you did not shutdown the server before you switched to your normal user.

You have to execute ./startscript.sh stop to stop the server before you can start it somewhere else on your machine.

Actually I start it with the same user, and expect "The server is already running, try restart or stop" to show.

Only when your server isn't 3.8.0. That one had a bug which was fixed in server 3.9.0.

Updated the server, and it works like a charm.
