    Need help to fix permission

    Hi,

For a long time I've been starting the server as root, but today after a reboot I tried to start with a simple user as suggested by the startscript.

So I logged as "server", and tried to start the script, and there was Permission denied :

    Code:
    ./ts3server_startscript.sh: line 48: ts3server.pid: Permission denied

Please do not use the root login to run the server. Doing that is not supported.
Please create a new non root user and then install the server for that user.

Here you can read what files you need to move/copy in case you want to get the all server settings and files back on the new location

    Yep,
That's why I'm here actually : to not start the server as root.

Is there a solution to fix permissions instead of a clean install?

If not, I'll do a clean install in the next days...
I could update Ubuntu too, is Ubuntu 18.04 supported?

    Thanks for you answer!

You don't have to do a clean install.
Just create a new user and extract the server there. Then transfer the files mentioned in the link to this new server folder.

    Yes 18.04 is supported.

Ps. Fixing permissions on your system is not what we are here for.
You need to use a manual or their support to get this solved.

You need to change the owners of the files to the server user. Use the following command as root in the server directory:

    Code:
    chown -R server:server *
That should solve the permissions error.
