    [TS5] Feedback to TS5 so far (5.0.0-beta.12)

    Deutsch
    Hallo zusammen,

Vierter Punkt, extremer Mangel an Funktionen.

    Hello everyone,
this is my feedback to TS5 in it's current state.
I know it's a beta, but I think there's still much to say.
Keep in mind this is only my opinion, you can disagree with me.
Also employees of TeamSpeak please respond to my points individually.

So first of all let's start with the awful voice quality.
One of the main reasons why I don't use TS5 right now is because the voice quality is really bad.
Some friends of mine tell me I sound like I'm underwater.

Second point, binding everything to myTeamSpeak.
I don't know if this will change as soon as TS5 will be released to everyone.
So far we are not even able to export our identities to use them in TS3.

    Third point, lack of transparency.
How exactly does the End-2-End encryption in direct messages work?
It only says "Chat is secured with end-to-end encryption", but to be honest, you should at least say how it's encrypted.
Good example is Riot. Bad example is Discord.
(Contacted Discord support once, they told me because of security reasons they are not allowed to tell me.)
    Don't be like Discord.

Fourth point, extreme lack of features.
Apart from the attempt of TeamSpeak trying to look more modern, I'd love to use other designs.
We can't see our latency, packet losses or other details.
It seems like server chats are completely gone.
And we can't do anything administrative on our own servers except for giving others groups or kick/ban them.
As far as I know the product development is in Germany.. so why is there no German language?

Fifth point, communication between TeamSpeak and it's users.
Probably the worst thing a developer of a communication software can do. Not communicate with it's users.
I think we've all waited extremely long for the TS5 beta. But on top of that it's a closed one.
I've seen that some TS5 beta codes got sold for over $100 on other forums.
I don't think that the closed beta is helping you in any way.
When more users test a beta, they find bugs faster.
And not everyone who is using TS5 right now is giving feedback.
So more users would also give more feedback.
Best way would've been to give everyone who registered for the beta before the beta release access to the beta.

I think that TS5 is unusable in it's current state.
I will post another feedback thread as soon as TS5 is usable again.

I don't think they revealed the requirements. Maybe try install ts3 first and check it out.

TS2 & TS3 installed with no problems about a CPU, i cannot see anything in the TS5 UI that needs a new CPU. Discord/Riot/Ventrilo & every single other app installs with 'NO PROBLEM'.
Intel ATOM processors are used by millions of people, i guess Teamspeak5 is only for the population of the 'closed beta'.

I created a free server in ts5 and saw the server version is "3.10.1-SP2".
So is this the version when the self hosters get the ts5 features like global messaging?

And i get the info, that the server owner doesn't used the privilege key, but i didn't got one. Is this a bug or a feature for later?

Now my post was extra pushed to all the others,
so that goes here in all the comments below.

And as far as I know the TeamSpeak employees do not answer it anyway.
In addition, there are many other threads in Suggestions and Feedback which also revolve around the point TS5.
But if there is any negative feedback, push it quickly where it will never read before.

Hats off @ dante696, you know how to make yourself unpopular.
    I hope that's not your full-time job.

Sorry but your post is just a re-hash of all the other feedback posts and ones they've likely received more than the forum posts, you said nothing new.

    A: why should they?

So first of all let's start with the awful voice quality.
One of the main reasons why I don't use TS5 right now is because the voice quality is really bad.
Some friends of mine tell me I sound like I'm underwater.
A: check your own system or provide log files because on my side for example it works outstanding

Second point, binding everything to myTeamSpeak.
I don't know if this will change as soon as TS5 will be released to everyone.
So far we are not even able to export our identities to use them in TS3.
A: myteamspeak syncs it between 3 and 5. Normally you should sync your TS3 identity to myteamspeak so that TS5 will get it. If you can´t do that well not Teamspeaks problem

    Third point, lack of transparency.
How exactly does the End-2-End encryption in direct messages work?

    Don't be like Discord.
A: It is a closed beta..beta means testing so how about backing off a little...everything will come just not with the speeed that you want...get over it.

Fourth point, extreme lack of features.
Apart from the attempt of TeamSpeak trying to look more modern, I'd love to use other designs.
We can't see our latency, packet losses or other details.

And we can't do anything administrative on our own servers except for giving others groups or kick/ban them.
As far as I know the product development is in Germany.. so why is there no German language?
A: They will change the complete rights system and that needs time, so again it´s coming! back off and wait!

Fifth point, communication between TeamSpeak and it's users.
Probably the worst thing a developer of a communication software can do. Not communicate with it's users.
I think we've all waited extremely long for the TS5 beta. But on top of that it's a closed one.

Best way would've been to give everyone who registered for the beta before the beta release access to the beta.
A:you don´t know any numbers at all...right now more than 5000 are using the beta, should be enough for feedback don´t you think??

I think that TS5 is unusable in it's current state.
A: it is usable because it is a beta...nobody told you to replace the stable TS3 with the starting TS5 beta completly...come on bro don´t act stupid...
I will post another feedback thread as soon as TS5 is usable again.
An no iam not a Teamspeak employeeeeeeeee...

Really pleased with these, now just for the ability to set server group names to a colour and we're on the right track.

Yeah if you wanna go crazy set channel backgrounds to animated images.
The future is now. I'm waiting for people to script this into some weird animated channel titles.

Apart from those tiny additions. There are some ups and downs with the beta so far.
I'm not really happy with the overall ui design as it is now.
I guess you will never make all users happy, but to me it just looks to messy and especially if you use a
smaller sized window using the ui feels clonky.

    - You have to click around at un-intuitive places to get to the channel chat.
    - Settings icon is in the search bar, all other buttons are spread all around the place
    - most feel like they just were placed at random spots where there was space left
    - The colors / palette is sub-optimal and has at places very low contrast
    - You cannot fold/hide the sidebars unless you scale the client down ( -> no full screen chat etc.)
    - The typography has too many different styles and those are not used consistently
    - sometimes subtitles are bigger than categories
    - text is multiple shades of gray/white
    - it looks like font weight is varied at places
    - The bluish links are hard to read on some of the blue/gray backgrounds

Just to name a few minor things. To me less is more. And consistency is key.
I guess those things could be tweaked easily to give it a more mature look and feel.
As far as I can tell there is at least (luckily) no mix in bold/underline/italics for emphasis. So good job there

Positive are some of the new ideas like the audio normalization of client output (a feature I was waiting for years. so thanks)
I hope the new file browser will be more efficient than the one in ts3. I still have that one channel on my server that freezes every TS3 client for multiple minutes straight (w/ around 2000 files).
And whispers are hopefully coming back. As far as I can tell they are just muted for now.
If I join my server I can hear whispers for about a second while the client is loading/joining the server.
Which means that either the TS5 client still has the same issue with muting/reducing volume of clients while the UI thread is not responding or it is an unrelated but similar issue in means of its actual outcome .

Btw. to all the dudes that are complaining about not receiving keys.
I got mine like a week ago and I registered pretty early in the registration process.
I guess they either send keys out at random or the waiting list is bigger than we anticipated.
And be sure you registered with the exact email of an existing myTeamspeak account. Otherwise you might not get a code at all.
    Check your spam folders etc.
Since TeamSpeak did not send any mails out to acknowledge a successful enlisting I guess you just have to hope that your registration didn't get lost in the process.
I know it sucks, but complaining in the forums will not get you a key either.
