    How do queries work meanwhile?

    Hello there,

I haven't set up a teamspeak server in quite some time. However, I am doing it right now.
I remember that I were able to create a new query login back in the days by simply clicking
the option in the extras tab in the teamspeak client.

I know that queries are bound to the identity. However I remember that whenever you created
a new query login, it would automatically have the guest server query group. But this is not
the case nowadays. It only gets the group the client had from which the login was created.

I thought that isn't a problem. I know I was able to login with my admin server query (serveradmin)
and manually add the server query group but that doesn't seem to work anymore since it was
removed in one of the last teamspeak updates.

    So...
how do queries work these days? How do you create a new query login with permissions?

    Greetz,
    Relentless

    It never changed.
A query login bound to user always had and still has exact same permissions as the user itself has on that server.
You think about the ServerQuery without a login. That one had the Guest group and ignored Query Guest permissions.

Clients do not belong into Query groups. Only global ServerQuery logins do.
We never supported that and nobody did listen. Now we did something against that.

Create a user bound login in client under Tools tab OR via ServerQuery with command queryloginadd
Or you create global (not user bound) login for the whole instance with command queryloginadd

Please use help queryloginadd first before you try to add a new login.

As a quick note, new servers use SSH and SSH does not allow anonymous users.

As another note to your note which somehow has no relation to the quote.
It does but required a login for initial connection. After logout you are back in Guest Query.
