I did before i posted....ok so the answer to that question is yes...basically the clan option is limited to 32 slots and one server. only if you are a registered npo do you have the possibility for a larger server w/o having to rent one from an athp. NP jsut wanted to make sure...

And if I heard right from the podcast, the license only uncaps the limit to 500 users?

    512 users.

It should be enough for a big clan/guild server and one or two private servers.

You know what's stupid? Somebody complaining about this that will NEVER have a need for more than 512 simultaneous clients. And for anyone that does, then PAY to receive the correct licensing agreement. This isn't rocket science people!

Well usually I would not have a problem with this, but I have decided with the release of TS3 that I was going to host free TS3 Hosting to the Virtual Airline community, to help releve costs. Virtual Airlines are not cheap to run. So now I could only host for maybe 10 VA's when before I knew that I could host more. So yes I do have a reason.

Ventrilo - the free version allows 8 slots
    TeamSpeak 3 - 512

With vent you get maybe 15% of a VA
    TeamSpeak 3 you get maybe 10 VA ( ~6,000% improvement )

    10 is better then nothing.

Someone once said that if you give someone a bag filled with gold, they'd complain on how heavy it was.

Like Ralf said, maybe something can be worked out.

Thank you for helping alleviate the costs of the VAs. I'm sure if you don't get something worked out with licensing, the 10 that do get it will be very appreciative.

Would I be right in thinking then that Clans can apply for a NPO license and it will cost us nothing more for our TS server?

I just want to make sure that I've got it right in me head, and that there won't be any additional costs to the clan, as there would be if we went with something like Vent.

You are right, but the naming is not what we use. The NPO license (5000 slots, unlimited vserver) that TS2 had no longer exists. But of course you can use the normal free licence of TS3 that can do 512 slots and max 10 vservers if you register it. That should be enough for every clan . Registration for this is free, fast and easy. So yes, every clan should have enough slots/vserver to host for themselves for free.
