    Increase Voice Quality?

    Hi there,

is there any way to increase the voice quality of the 32khz speex codec? I select option 10 and got a kbit/s at 7.47. Against Vt or Mumble where you can push up the codec to 110 kbit/s the voice quality is a little bit disapointing.

In the server group settings i found the "Create channels with custom code quality" with value 10, increasing that one to a higher one seems to have no effect on the quality option in the channel settings.

actually mumble compresses that 11 KB to 5KB

And ventrilo uses 4.4KB on its 32khz..

    go figure.

    Exclamation

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think maybe confusing terms of bits and KBits? I beleive from Vent and upper 10 KBits from TS is ruffly the same thing. I beleive it's KBits/s which is bigger than bits/s. not sure of the conversion.. but make sure your compairing apples to apples.

There are 8 bits in 1 byte.

Of course, didnt realized that azzy posted kb,
    but for a summary:

    Mumble: 124 kbit/s = 15,5 kb/s
    TSł: 7,47 kbit/s = 0,93375 kb/s (Speex 32 khz, Qual: 10)

I dont want to compare the CELT codec, because at my tests this codec sounds very bad.. like a castrated robot.. or something like this.

I hope you know that there is some difference between kb (kilo bit) and kB (kilo Byte) ^^
just as a little information :P

    Edit:

    Mumble: 124 kbit/s = 15,5 kb/s
    TSł: 7,47 kbit/s = 0,93375 kb/s (Speex 32 khz, Qual: 10)
1st calc is right ... 2nd is wrong
its 7,47 kiB (capital "B"!) so its already Byte!

    your confused again.

TS3 is in KB ( kilaBYTES)
mumble is in Kb ( Killa Bit)

Mumble sais it has 12 KB, but compresses it to 5kb.

TS3 has 7 KB and does not compress it.

    Got it now?

( and im talking speex codec with TS3)

Seems thats your issue then, low bandwith.

depends on how many people are in the room, say if its the 32 khz one on 10 qaulity, thats 7kib. if theirs 11 people in the room then it has to transmit 70kb/ps.

10mbit down 5mbit up through comcast

Still, why do I sound horrid on just a mic test?

Is there anyway to amplify my volume outbound like in vent?

Is your mic level too high? This could cause a horrid sound that you describe.
