because of how the devs created TS3 it really doesn't matter because you can adjust the permissions in any way you want You could give the GUEST group the permissions that VOICE has if you wanted. It's your server to do with as you please

Solved [Solved] Temporary permissions, channel groups, etc

Is possible to grant temporary permissions to a client?

    Example:

During an operation a user needs to be give permission, temporarily, to join a privileged channel to pass intel. This happens often, several times a day, and often once granted the permission isn't removed (simply forgotten by the permissions granter) so the grantee can access channels they normally should have access.

I would like to be able to assign someone those permissions, by server group or channel group membership temporarily then have them removed automatically after a certain amount of time.

    Hello

It isn't possible by the time. But it's possible by the connection.

In the server group you uncheck the "b_group_is_permanent" permission
By this way, when the user disconnect, he loose this server group.

hey i have a number of problems, this whole set up is so daunting

I posted a question here before ( see below) and the person helped me so that admins couldn't join the leaders room but could joins the admins room, but my problem now is that, guests and members can join either of the rooms?

    http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=57510

also, a few of my members, when they are assigned to member, when they quit and come back on they are guest again! does this have something to do with (temp) next to the server group?

    Losing SA privileges on reconnect

    Hi everyone

I'm hosting TS3 servers on my Ubuntu 10.04 vServer and one of the users contacted me some days ago, that he lost his SA privileges. I created a token for him and after he used it his permissions were restored.
One day later he emailed me again, telling me that he lost his permissions again after he logged out and back in again. Also this wasn't just his problem but a problem with all other serveradmins on this virtual server.
Everytime one of them reconnects they lose their SA status.
I checked the logfiles but there was absolutely no sign that one of this users lost any privileges or something like that.

I don't think it's a general server-bug, because on the other virtual servers this problem doesn't exist.

Can somebody help me with this?

    Cheers
    Margash

Make sure, that your group has permission b_group_is_permanent set and also maek sure, that this group isn' the default server group.

Channel Group Permissions do NOT hold

I created a channel group for regular members so that they have full access to channels. It seems like the permissions hold for about a day. After than everyone is a guest.

I know there are multiple ways to change a users group.

    • I have right clicked their name and selected the appropriate group from there.
    • I have added them to the Sever Groups tab via their client id, but not database id.

Do I need a mysql database for this? I thought for small servers that things like this would be called from txt files or w/e.

Please help. Getting out of control.

Did you put a check in the b_group_is_permanent permission for that group? If you forgot that permission the group is only temporary and removed when they log off.

    Channel Group not Permanent?

    Hi,

I have to setup a small TS3 server, for a small Guild in some Online game. So, i have sort of 3 areas.

    1. A Lobby, where everyone gets into upon joining the server.
    2. A Members area, where suposedly only members should be able to join.
    3. A Leaders channel, only for Leaders.

So, after watching florian_fr40 sticky tutorial, i did set up 3 "Server Groups", Guest, Member and Leader.

Everything works, apart from the fact that if i "Set Channel Group" for someone, it only says "Member[Temp]" or "Leader[Temp]. If i set this, then the Member or Leader can move beween the channels hes suposed to be able(Members only in Lobby and the Members Area, and Leaders in all 3 areas). But upon closing of TS3 and then reconecting he(naturely) lost the Temp Channel Rights.

In Florians Video Tutorial, he could set the Channel Rights to Perm, like i set already the Server Groups to. I just cannot set the Channel Group to Perm.

    greetings
