What? Not sure I understand the original question but I'm guessing it involves what all we need to do to update from Beta 1 server to Beta 2 server for linux. Am I correct and saying that we just upload the actual binary file and overwrite the original with it, then run that bin?

Just download new archive/installer and overwrite all files.
Since database is not involved/touched at all you wont loose your server settings/channel/etc. pp.

Do not just upload the the files... upload the archive, stop the server and extract the files into the folder you installed ts3server.
Otherwise you may cause a Segmentation fault.
