    Lua channel reading

Is there a Lua function to get a line of written text in a specific channel? I may have missed it but I do not see one. Or if someone could get a plugin that allows users to vote on a song that is playing to skip the song or not, that would be nice. Something like >50% users in channel type !next, then go to next song.

    Yes, there is.

In the ts3events.lua you can find the event callback functions, the plugin calls.
There is the onTextMessageEvent, which is called every time, your client gets a text message (private, channel chat or server chat).

But you need to be in that channel. If you are not in the channel, there is no possibility. Wouldn't be very nice, if everybody could read the channel chat of every channel, even if he is not in that channel. So every type of spying is not possible with TeamSpeak 3.
