    Edit by mod
    Please don't use this outdated script anymore! The script got an overhaul long time ago.
    Please use the minimal or startscript instead

    start it like
    ./ts3server_linux_x86 2>&1 > /dev/null &
    or
    ./ts3server_linux_x86 dbplugin=ts3db_mysql 2>&1 > /dev/null &

    This will pipe all output to hell and run the server in background. if you want to check if the server is running, type
    ps aux | grep ts3server_linux_x86
    if everyting's fine, you'll see a line like
    1002 7763 0.2 0.0 26164 6524 ? Sl Dec21 2:11 ./ts3server_linux_x86 dbplugin=ts3db_mysql

    meaning the server runs as user 1002 (teamspeak) with pid 7763.
    if you want to stop the server, type
    kill $(pidof ts3server_linux_x86)

    Best regards

    I just registered to say thank you. This made it quick and easy when dealing with start ups and shutdowns.

    I used the following and it works for me. I am running centos 5.4

    Made a file called "ts3_server" and placed it in the root of the ts3 install directory.

    #!/bin/bash
    DIR="/home/teamspeak/tss3"
    case "$1" in
    start)
    cd ${DIR}
    ${DIR}/ts3server_linux_x86 dbplugin=ts3db_mysql
    ;;
    stop)
    killall ts3server_linux_x86
    ;;
    *)
    echo "Usage: 'basename $0' {start|stop}">&2
    exit 42
    ;;
    esac
    exit 0
    Notice the directory listing "DIR="/home/teamspeak/tss3"" it points to the location where the server is installed at.

    Then I start the server simply by typing :
    " ./ts3_server start & "
    the " & " symbol allows me to close my ssh session and the server still runs.
    then to stop the server I simply type " ./ts3_server stop "
