    TS3 installation process for linux

I decided to start up Ubuntu 9.10 again and try out teamspeak 3.
The installation process for teamspeak 3 is quite tedious, i managed to get it installed but for some users and friends of mine they cannot even open the client, it crashes immediately.

Will a .run installation be used for TS3 when it is in RC or actually released?
Can the dev's not just release it as a tarball (.tar.bz2) ?

Glancing the forum it seems the linux version is having quite some issues with FMOD and installation. Maby someone could write a few tutorials for installation process?

    I don't see the problem?

Right click the file, choose permissions, check "allow run as program".
Double Click it and choose run.

Or simply open console where the file is located and do 'chmod +x team<tab>'

I can't speak for the crashes, but tell them to open the client via console so you can post some error message. Dev's can't do much about "Client crashes, what to do?".

i cant speak too much for other's problems as it installed fine for me, but there does seem to be a number of people who cant get it to start even with " Allow run as program"

And im not saying who's fault this is, but a tutorial for installation will help these people.

    My Way to open it:
    1) open a terminal
    2) chmod +x TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta9.run
    3) ./TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta9.run

OK is not a .DEB-File, but it run!

I am having the same problem but doing this :
'Allow to run as program' etc. as described in this thread, plus :

    1) open a terminal
    2) chmod +x TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta9.run
    3) ./TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta9.run

    does not help me.

Other software runs fine on this CentOS installation.

Still searching the forums for a solution.
SUBSCRIBED to this thread, as it is the closest thread to my question (pretty much identical problem)..

I am running CentOS 5.8 32-bit with the latest Package Updates.

there should be a new folder afterwards in which you will find a ts3client_runscript.sh file which will start the TeamSpeak client.

There is that folder and that file but running it does no good. NO GUI. Yes of course I have set permissions correctly for execution of the .sh file ...

Thanks for the tip, you could be right. Which libraries would be missing? It's a brand-new CentOS 5.8 installation. I've never used the ldd command so if you could give me some usage tips I would be appreciative. I have some documentation I'm reading here on ldd but as is typical with techie documentation ... it's just as confusing as having no documentation at all ... help if you can. Thanks.

so it's as easy as ldd <filename here>.
In your case you are interested in the TeamSpeak client executable which for a 64bit system is named ts3client_linux_amd64.

    Code:
    su ts3client
    cd /home/ts3client/TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_amd64
    ls -Alh
    ./ts3client_runscript
do those in order and post the output if it doesn't work.

well it seams you need qt4
    follow the instructions
    1)open a terminal
    2)type in pkexec apt-get install qt4-default; sleep 10;exit
3)when it prompts you enter your password(terminal will close after a short time)
    4)run teamspeak again
you need to do this only once and then it will work forever unless you reinstall your os then you have to go through the whole list again.
