    Question Prevent guests from recording

    Hi all,

How do I prevent Guests from recording conversations in TS3?

    Thanks!

A notification for that , will be implemented. It tells you someone is recording.
Not sure if we add a permission for that.

Permission would be best - if I'm away from my computer I may not hear the notification.

I want only trusted members to be able to record.

True, but anything can be worked around if someone is determined enough. The key is to not make it EASY for them to do and deter the majority of those that would do it.

So, a permission for this would be great. I'd have it turned off so that only my actual members (not guests or visitors for example) could use it.

I also agree. Preventing certain groups from recording is needed.

Arguing you can record with other software is like arguing about cdkeys

If you dont want them to record sensible/private discussion then do not allow them to hear a such discussion.
Why allowing a guest to hear something he can't record ?

If they can hear, they can record.

It is better to allow them recording trough TS than using a 3rd software, because you 'll know when they record.

    h0_noMan is right.
Its the same thing as pictures on websites or forums, where people ask how to protect them against "theft".
To prevent any recording you have to control all processes / services on the computer, which is not easy and can be in conflict with laws.

Recording conversations of ppl unaware is against the law in many countries. I agree with this being a good function to at least make it as hard as possible.

In TS2, you could automatically kick people who were recording, if you used the TS2 Perlmod.

Maybe you could make a php-file using ScP's PHP Framework and use it in a cron job, if you can check via ServerQuery if someone is recording in TS3
