    clientupdate and client_nickname

This topic seems to have been brought up already (see below) but doesn't appear to actually be solved. Clarification please.

The TS3 server document lists client_nickname as changeable, yet the following commands yield errors:

    clientedit clid=2 client_nickname=foo
    error id=1542 msg=missing\srequired\sparameter
    clientdbedit cldbid=2 client_nickname=foo
    error id=1542 msg=missing\srequired\sparameter

In the thread below, dante696 suggests that client_nickname is not changed unless you use clientupdate, which only modifies yourself and not the intended client ID.

tldr: What is the expected behavior for attempting to update a client_nickname? Is there another command/method of doing so that reflects on the client as well?

This would be incorrect. The point here is to update a particular client ID's client_nickname, not mine.

    From the TS3 Documentation:

    CLIENTUPDATE
Change your ServerQuery clients settings using given properties.

    You should.

Just for those times when someone comes in with an inappropriate name and you need to give them something temporary until they change it.

Sure, you can kick them for the bad name and all... but why resort to harsher punishments before giving them a chance?

Well, I agree with Excreta. But I'm not going to argue the point.

I will suggest updating the documentation to reflect that client_nickname can only be changed by CLIENTUPDATE to remove confusion. This question has come up in the past and I'm sure it will come up again.
