    I rechecked this. In addition we had a crash this night. I think both problem rely on the same problem: umlauts.

    In both tests I used umlauts or other special characters. These chars are written to database as encoded chars. An example:

    Channel: "Bitte nicht stören" (thats german for "do not disturb")
    Whats in database: "Bitte nicht stören"

    You see... that are two chars for one.

    So.. the crash this night... somebody connected with a long nickname with special chars. Cause the encoded nickname was too long for the database field with varchar(40), the server crashed with a mysql error in the log-file.

    And here are the logentries (these are only in the log-file, not in database.... cause it crashed^^).

    For the channel description problem:
    "2010-03-31 07:26:33.195375|ERROR |DatabaseQuery | | db_exec() insert into channel_properties ( server_id, id, ident, value) values ( error: Data too long for column 'value' at row 1"

    For the nickname problem:
    "2010-04-11 09:24:59.386750|ERROR |DatabaseQuery | | db_exec() insert into clients( server_id, client_unique_id, client_nickname, error: Data too long for column 'client_nickname' at row 1
    2010-04-11 09:24:59.402375|CRITICAL|Client | 4| Assertion "m_ClientDBID != 0" failed at common\chanclients\client.cpp:235;
    "

    Maybe my collation is wrong? Cause in your create-scripts are no collation information, my mysql uses the default, that is maybe different on a german windows 2003 server installation as on yours.

    PS.: I hope my english is not too bad, sometimes ^^

    Channel-descriptions

    Hello,

    i found someting that disturbs me.
    If i add a description to a channel which is longer than 255 chars, than the description will abridged to 255 chars at the next server restart.
    The reason for that could be the column type for channel propertie-values "varchar(255)".

    What should i do now?

    Same problem

    Hi all!
    Have been using TS3-x64-Linux since beta20 (now running beta22). All channels were wiped out clean on each restart for the reason mentioned above 'duplicate orderID' and so forth.

    Here's how to reproduce:
    Attached is the excerpt (MySQL dump of 'channels' and 'channel_properties' tables) from the live production TS3 server, which contains channel configs after several such re-creations. Populate it to newly configured TS3 server (databases in UTF8) to reproduce error in question.

    Thanks in advance.

    Channel Descriptions truncated after upgrades

    This has been happening ever since I started using TS3...upon upgrading my channel descriptions get truncated. Not sure if it's related, but usually we have some URLs listed in the description and these get chopped off..

    Channel description will be cropped after restart

    Hi,

    the channel description will be cropped after main server instance restarts.

    E.g.:
    Code:
    {color=darkgreen}Erstelle deinen eigenen Channel{/color}
    Rechtsklick auf {i}soeren-kornetzki.de{/i} in der Channelliste und dann {i}Channel erstellen{/i} auswählen.

    {URL=http://www.tsviewer.com/index.php?page=ts_viewer&ID=906274}{IMG}http://www.tsviewer.com/promotion/dynamic_sig/sig.php/clan160x283_vari/906274.png{/IMG}{/URL}
    Cropped to:
    Code:
    {color=darkgreen}Erstelle deinen eigenen Channel{/color}
    Rechtsklick auf {i}soeren-kornetzki.de{/i} in der Channelliste und dann {i}Channel erstellen{/i} auswählen.

    {URL=http://www.tsviewer.com/index.php?page=ts_viewer&ID=906274}{IMG}http://www.tsviewer
    (Brackets translated to curlys)

    There are no error statements after updating the channel description or restarting the main server instance. On server or client side.

    Server OS: Debian Lenny 5.0 GNU/Linux x64
    Server TS: 3.0.0-beta22 [Build: 10723] x64
    Client OS: Windows 7 Professional x64
    Client TS: 3.0.0-beta20 [Build: 10723] x64

    When every you are using special characters in mySQL make sure your collation is set to UTF-8 Bin. Once you change to that you should not see the problem with double characters.
