    Question Anti Flood system

    Hi.
I think it is sad that the other thread is closed: http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthrea...ght=anti+flood
Because, Peter was explaining really well how it works. But I would like to ask for more info about each individual action, and how many points it gives!
Like 'Creating Channel' gives 60 points(i think it was?), but what about changing channels. How many points does that give? And what about channel or private message? How many points for each?
I would appreciate a more complete list.

I have to admit that something must be wrong in the anti-flood system, because I use default settings: 5(points-reduce/tick), 150(warning), 250(kick), 350(ban), 300(ban length).
And if a user then fasts switches from channel to channel, like 5 times in like 5 secs or so.. He gets KICKED with a message: "Anti-Spam measure, you are able to reconnect in 00:00:51)" I would call it a ban if he cannot connect connect immediately again. And as soon the user reconnects, he increases his points and then it becomes a BAN... And he waits and then connects again..., but the points keeps increasing, and so does the BAN length!! ?

The next issue is: Lets say the user gets banned for whatever time it is.. When he comes back and the ban has expired as it should, the users points has NOT been reduced, because the points does not reduce until the user is on the server again..
How would the user EVER be able to reduce his points below ban-reason-limit if he cant join the server?

    Peter: Would you please explain?

    Thank you for your support!

    Hi,

I'm confused about the Anti Flood system. No matter what I set, Flooding users get banned after the second connection attempt even if I increase "Needed points to ban" to 1000. If I set "Needed points to ban" lower than "Needed Points to kick", the user is still get kicked, not the immediate ban issued as I set. I think Anti Flood needs to be corrected and polished.

I Believe at the moment, the Anti-Flood system isnt working all that great yet. I mean with my experience using it, its got several glitches STILL.

I honestly don't understand why some of you say the Anti-Flood system isn't working because it works just fine on my server with the default settings...

    **EDIT**

I have put a request in to the Devs to post a sticky thread on the Anti-Flood system. Hopefully they get the time to make this post for those of you that say you have troubles or just don't understand how it works.

Till then, try adding the permission b_client_ignore_antiflood to one of two places

    1) add it to the one or more server group permissions (I'd recommend not adding it to GUEST)
2)If it's only a few people I'd just add it to their client permissions.

Today, Right out of the Blue the Server started acting on it's own with the Flood protection. It started this morning, I'm told she was uploading a file and was disconnected as her provider went down (Timed out).

Where did you add this permission for the client?

Sorry mate but what do you mean by "Where"? The log entry should show both...

    Code:
2010-07-14 23:08:40 VirtualServer Info permission 'b_client_ignore_antiflood'(id:20641) with values (value:1) was added by 'Tearlow'(id:2) to client (id:11)

So as you can see, Both Client and her own Server group...

Alright, This is getting out of hand. Now we have 4 people that have been randomly banned and there is no way of resolving this- At least not to my knowledge.

There has to be someone out there... Support team? Developer? Anyone?

How do I completely remove this Weird "feature" that has just randomly started banning (Not to mention Automatically) everyone?!

unfortunatly u cant, its been MONTHS devs still havnt fixed it, They never EVER EVER bother to post in here to help users out with the anti flood! so u will just have to let it go. ANTI FLOOD IS BUGGED

i have been banned several times because i have found SO many bugs with their program they dont like the fact that their program has so many bugs, and all im realy doing is HELPING OUT!

So... My options are pretty much to just wipe my Database?! That's pretty insane... *Sigh* This seems to be such a weird thing to do, Not being able to disable the darned thing anyway...

I tend to disagree with the amount of bugs but they do exist, but this one is far from something to be ignored- This lithely makes Teamspeak useless as some people cannot use it simply because the server is banning users for no reason and the admin stands there not being able to do Anything to prevent this...

I already gave a temp fix to this problem. I as well as numerous others have zero problems with this system. I use the default settings and have never had a single user banned or kicked.

The devs do read the forums and take note of these things even if they don't comment. I specifically requested that the devs, when they had a chance, do a good write up on how the system works and give examples of what actions earn you X number of points. I have no doubt that when they get the time we will see this. I know Peter had already done something similar before but the thread this was in was trashed because the OP kept spamming in the thread.

This is not to say that you may have a legitimate problem, only that many of us have not had problems.

Well, I do appreciate that mate. But knowing how the system gives these points are not of interest as users are AUTOMATICALLY banned. I'am looking at 10~sec captured network traffic and there are no TCP/UDP spamming involved nor does the server log say anything but banning the user without reason.

Instead of a mathematical rundown it would be nice with a UI of sorts to deal with these kind of things manually in case of this scenario again.

Besides that, Everything was on default so no "Special" settings were made.

But this can be ignored. I wiped my Database instead.
