    [On Todo] Context menu inconsistencies

    Version: 3.0.0-beta21 [Build: 10957]

In trying to manage users on a busy server with lots of channels and lots of users, a few of us have noticed that sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is hard to manage them depending on what context menu you are dealing with.

Specifically the "Join Channel of Client", and the "Move Client to Own Channel" options.
But also the other options like poke, chat, add, block, kick, etc...

But being able to see the following context menu in all these same places would really be handy.
    Attachment 3370

Right clicking on the users name
Right clicking on a users name in any of the chat windows
Right clicking contacts in the Contacts window.
Right clicking users in the Whisper History box
Left clicking on user in Poke Window

These mostly deal with having to scroll through the list of channels and move or join their channels.

It is much easier to right click on someone and click "Move Client to Own Channel", then to drag them 75 channels up to where you are, and then scroll down again to drag another users to your channel.

Along the same lines, sometimes you don't know where the other user is, when they whisper, chat, or you are looking at them online in the contacts. It would be nice to be able to join the channel they are in, without searching through the entire list.

Also, because you are sometimes moved to another channel, or you are scrolling through the channel list, you sometimes can't find yourself in the list. It would be nice to have a button, or hotkey function, or context, to center the channel box on my username.

Also when changing channels on opposite ends of the channel list, it would be nice if there was an option to jump back to the previous channel I came from, so we are not scrolling back and forth all the time.

P.S. would it be easy to add the Channel Name a user is in to the contact list and the whisper list.

And if you standardize the context menu for the contacts, you could probably add buttons to the bottom bar where "Set Defaults" is located, for the current context menu options.

    Thanks

Here is my reply to all these requests.

Right clicking users in the Whisper History box
I added a feature request for more options.
    Code:
    Allow
    Block
    -------------------
    Open Text Chat
    Poke Client
    Make a Complaint
    Change Volume
    --------------------
    Kick from server
    Ban Client
    Mute Client
    --------------------
    Join Channel of Client
    Move Client to own Channel
It would be nice if there was an option to jump back to the previous channel I came from, so we are not scrolling back and forth all the time.

I added this request into our bugtracker.
Hotkey: jump into last used channel

You sometimes can't find yourself in the list.
I added this request into our bugtracker.

    Hotkey: Select yourself on server

You have to wait for join clients channel, this was requested in one of your posts and maybe this won't be fixed. Please wait until this has been discussed.

OK you didn't mention the other places

Of the places I mentioned, Whisper would be last

Right clicking on a users name in any of the chat windows (mostly done already)
Right clicking contacts in the Contacts window.
Left clicking on user in Poke Window

    And
    Add as Friend
    Add as Block
    or
    Remove from Contacts
    Edit Contact

    and
    Get connection info

Please use the image I posted as the template and add the current options they already have to the template.

The options in order of importance would be this

1.Right clicking on the users name
2.Right clicking on a users name in any of the chat windows
3.Right clicking contacts in the Contacts window.
4.Left clicking on user in Poke Window
5.Right clicking users in the Whisper History box

    Thanks dante

The Context Menu for Whisper history will be changed with beta38
    TS-63

    2. The other places already work, i can't remember, when this was changed.
    3. As long the client can't see the other user, you won't get some dialogs, this won't be changed.
    4. In contacts, the menü for ban etc. won't be added. (as far i know)
    5. We also add a search function for the server tree. (after RC1)
