Sorry but I have some problems with this text here because I'm german.

Auto-Updating Permissions
-------------------------
Whenever the Permission System gets updated, the server will automatically try
to assign the new permissions to your existing groups. To enable auto-updating,
simply add a value for i_group_auto_update_type of the target group.
The following values are available:

Value 0: The group will be handled like 'Query Guest'
Value 1: The group will be handled like 'Query Admin'
Value 2: The group will be handled like 'Server Admin'
Value 3: The group will be handled like 'Server Normal'
Value 4: The group will be handled like 'Server Guest'
Value 5: The group will be handled like 'Channel Admin'
Value 6: The group will be handled like 'Channel Operator'
Value 7: The group will be handled like 'Channel Voice'
Value 8: The group will be handled like 'Channel Guest'

As you can see, each of these values represents a group from the default
permission set of the TeamSpeak 3 Server. For example, if the Permission System
is updated with a new permission for Server Admins, all groups having their
i_group_auto_update_type set to 2 will be updated automatically.

Hmm, my server build is beta20 and I can't even find that i_group_auto_update_type permission either in Server nor Channel groups.
Am I overlooking something or can somebody kind please explain in more detail. I don't want to update the server and find myself locked out. Thx.

Just type UPDATE in the filter and you'll find it

Example: You go to your SA server group and find the auto update permission. You would want to put a 2 as the value since that corresponds to the table shown as SA. The idea is that if a new permission is added in an update it will automatically be applied to any group that has this permission enabled. I've only enabled it on my SA group since I will decide if another group needs the permission.

I haven't updated anything yet, I suppose I first have to update to beta 22 to get this permission type?
And where can I download beta 22?

Some small question about the Query Admin.
I updated the db with server_id 0 for the admins.
But before the update i saw the query groups in the permission editor in TS3. Now i didn't see the groups. And i'am not allowed to change some settings of the virtual server. It seems, that i'am not a member of the Server query group.
But a select via sql tells me that i'am a member of the group (client_id=2).
What is wrong?

Ok, in a first step updated to beta 22, but, although I am in the server Admin group, I cannot assign any setting to the i_group_auto_update due to insuffient permission modify power (75).
Actually, I am locked out from most changing functions. Great exactly what I wanted to avoid.

Where do I go from here?

hai.

Ok yesterday I first-time installed TeamSpeak3 server to beta22. Everything worked.

Now this morning one of my friends came by and told me he cannot connect to server - obviously because there was an update to the client and server overnight (what a bad coincidence, right)

So I've copied over the .sql files, overwritten the binaries, started and ... voila "database invalid constraint"

now because my first time with TeamSpeak 3 was yesterday and it took me like 6 hours to figure out why the hell there is no username/password authentication, and why the lib wants only MySQL 4.0 libraries and so.16 ain't supported, I thought that updating will be straightforward. It was not

For reasons I cannot understand , the update script cannot do the update process automatically

, but I need to find out what is a server query group

(mind you I installed yesterday and still my brain still does not compute how it works exactly) and somehow set it up and set some other flag and something there ... wtf?

can someone, please, make a step-by-step guide, HOW to FIX the 22->23 transition WITHOUT re-installing the whole system?

Use your serveradmin (server query) access to add yourself to admin server query or just add that permission to your server group.

22->23 is as simple as unzipping the new files into your server directory overwriting the old stuff. I would make a backup of your current server stuff just in case.

Okay,

I updated from beta19 to beta23 and so had no i_group_auto_update_type.
The result was that I was deleted from Admin Server Query group. I added my account again via server query as "serveradmin". Now i was able to assign all groups the correct values for i_group_auto_update_type but it seems also after a server restart the new permissions are not set correctly (I only checked i_client_modify_power from the newly added permissions and it is set for no group at all).

Well it seems the server is working as it should with all its rules and groups but I'm not sure if there will come any problems in future if I now leave it as it is with maybe not correctly setted permissions (they were updated correctly till beta19). Can you give me any advice?

I also cannot see/am not apart of the Server Admin Query group (according to the server), even though in the database I am assigned to it.

I've tried setting

server_id=0
server_id=1
having two entries with server_id=1 and server_id=0

still no go.
