    Solved [Solved] server beta23 - permissions - i_client_talk power

Changed behavior in permission system. Possible bug.

In Tier1 the Server Admin Group sets i_client_talk_power to 75.

In Tier3 i set for a dedicated channel (AFK channel) i_client_talk_power to -1 and i_client_needed talk power to 0. Purpose of this is to force mute all clients in this channel. The permissions are NOT overwritten by Tier4 (Channel Groups) i.e. all clients are channel group guest and NOT overwritten by Tier5.

When a client from the server admin group joins this channel in beta22, the client is muted. In beta 23 the i_client_talk_power in tier3 does not seem to have any effect on this client, i.e. the client is NOT muted.

    Hey,

this is no bug but rather due to a slight change in the way the "skip" flag is handled on permissions:

    Code:
! permission "skip flag" skips now Channel, ChannelGroup
Your serveradmin group probably has a i_client_talk_power > 0 and the skip flag attached to it. In older server releases this skip flag would only skip channel group related permission changes, but since beta23 it will now also skip any channel permissions so the -1 you set on the channel is ignored.

If you want serveradmins to be muted in that channel you will have to remove the skip from the serveradmins i_client_talk_power permission.

    Hi Peter,

the skip flag is not set in the server admin group (i_client_talk_power: value:75, negated:0, skipchannel:0)

Just set the needed_talk_power of your AFK channel to 1 higher than the highest talk power

i.e. SA has a power of 75 so set the channel needed_talk_power to 76

thx, i know that and there are several ways to mute clients. i just want to point out, that there is an issue with the i_client_talk_power / channel permissions (and skip flag)

If you really want all to be muted, you should also set permission "b_client_set_flag_talker" for this channel and uncheck it (set to false).
Therefore noone can grant themselves or others talk_power to speak.

    Do mean both skip functions?
There is a skip flag for every single permission or a permission that sets all other permissions as skipped b_client_skip_channelgroup_permissions.

I heared that many times on public server and the user didn't know, thtawe have 2 functions to skip a permission.
