    Guest serverquery

    Dear all,

since new version of TS3-server, that I installed fresh on my server,
unfortunatly I am not able to add somebody to Guest Serverquery.

I only got a message :"access to default group is forbidden",

adding myself to "normal" Adminserverquery is not a problem, I only got this
message by adding my web-user to Guest query.

Only a guess, but since anyone's automatically a member of the 'Guest' group if they're not assigned to another group, I would think the same would be the case for the 'Guest Server Query' group.

In other words, there's no need to add people to this group for them to have that groups rights.

Like I say, just a guess

    Dear Air SeaTac,

if I do not add my webquery to this Group,
    I am only getting
    Code:
Error (ID 2568) insufficient client permissions (failed on serverinfo 8470/0x2116)
as an aswear. Before version beta23 of server, that was not this issue, as I was able to add this client-id to guest group.

the error tells you what permission to look at. I personally have not messed w/ the guest query but try looking at that permission. Maybe grant it to the server group??

    Dear poisonpanik,

you can only grant rights, by adding client-ids to a servergroup.

So, my workaround now is, I created a new group, copied rights from guest querygroup to this and adding this client to that group.

    Now it functions.

But it would be nice to know, why you cannot add anybody to this group, anymore.

What poisonpanik wanted to say, is that you should grant the necessary rights to the "Guest ServerQuery" Group and/or "Guest" ServerGroup and try again.

Well, I am not so studip and know that clients get permissions from servergroup.
But, how should a client get this permission, if you're not able to assign a client
    to that group ??

As already mentioned before, I created a new group, with same rights and assigned client to that one. Everything runs fine then.

But it's not possible with a fresh install to assign a client to guest serverquery group. So this is the thing, I am asking about, why.

I haven't had a chance to test this yet but will when I get home from work.

As for permissions, you should still be able to edit the permissions for that group or any other group if you have the permission to do so. What I was saying (and Alcazar said too) is try to add/modify this permission you got an error from on the guest query group or maybe the server group you are in. This permission is preventing you from adding a client to the guest query group and needs to be modified somewhere to allow you to do this.

    Dear poisonpanic,

    thanks for clairify and sorry.

I can edit all permissions from guest serverquery group,
but I cannot add any client to that group.

Even not by login of serveradmin, direct.

well... but u forgot a little thing.. the server group GUEST Server Query is not a permanent group and adding people the this group is not possible since beta 23, becuase it makes no sense

server query group is a bit like the guest group, the difference is,

Guest Query is for the whole ts instance (not able to join)
    and
Guest Group is only for a virtual server (default group for guests)

    best example: a ts viewer...

if u rent a ts server, u dont have access to the guest query group and u have to set the needed permissions for the ts viewer in the guest group

Also, the "guest" server group is by default the group any user is put into when joining the server (unless he is in another group), so there is no need to "make" someone a guest.
Same is for "Guest ServerQuery" Group. If you use ServerQuery you are in this group until you use login command, so no need to put users in there.
