Maybe he meant, to change avatars of other users.
This is currently not direct possible, maybe with later releases.
What you can do is, edit the users settings in the db (set "client_flag_avatar" to "") and remove the file from "files/virtualserver_<id>/internal".

The possibility to remove other users avatar is planned in later release.

I'm sorry if I didn't explain well enough. I want to change my own avatar. When we first started Teamspeak 3 I was able to change my avatar any time I wanted to. Now after update upon update this is not possible. When I right click on my name and go to "Set Avatar" I receive a message "could not open file transfer connection". The avatar in question is of proper size as I have tried with many others. The persons server is up to date as is my client side. I am not the only person that cannot change avatars. Everyone connected to this server has the same problem.

Did you delete your current avatar prior to trying to upload a new one? Is file transfer working properly on that server?

I asked about file transfer because the avatar function uses this to get the avatar onto the server.

Maybe your hoster disabled the filetransfer. In that case, send a mail to your hoster.
Or the port for file transfers is blocked, if it is your machine (30033 TCP).
Or file transfer quotas are exceeded (Queck your permissions and search for Quota).

I asked the host what the problem was and he said it is Teamspeak and not him. He is an intelligent person with an IT background who has been running the server for many years. When I ask him why we cant change avatars he says "ask the germans" lol...sorry

Maybe he (your hoster) needs a little help on this one. I have a server I setup 1/05 with several virtual servers and have updated the database from that version all the way the the current beta23. My avatars and file transfers are working. Even the brightest of of IT folks can use a second look at something we are having trouble with.

How about changing the kb from 51 to 60. 300x300 is ok just not a lot of detail on the images can be displayed.

Not meaning to hijack this thread but I am having problem with avatars period. I try to upload a 300x300 pic I keep getting could not open file transfer connection (/avatar).

I have checked the port forwarding 30033 TCP is open. I still don't see the problem. I've checked the quota size. I don't get it.

    checked it says this

Success: I can see your service on 24.102.192.19 on port (30033)
Your ISP is not blocking port 30033
