Question Channel group / channel permissions affecting server group?

    Hello!

I've been trying to set up a "Guild Master" channel group
the Guild Master should be able to change player groups into his initiates
i added a few channel groups for it
    Power Level / Group Name
    1 New Guild Mate
    2 Player
    3 Tanker
    4 DPS
    5 Healer
    10 Officer
    20 Guild Master

This is working great after setting up i_group_member_remove_power with grant 19

Now my problem is when a guild master is trying to set someone's group out side his channel he is able to do so with no problems.
He is able to change client groups to anything in his level out side the channel he owns...
Is there any way to disable his ability to change server-wide groups and leave him the ability to change groups only to local players in his channel?

Thanks in advance for the help!
    Amit

It all comes down to the needed_group_member_add and remove power. If he's got a group_member_add power greater than a needed add power he can add people to that group.

Personally I would make those into server groups and not channel groups. Channel groups override anything in the server group.

But only, if the "Skip" Flag is not set and the group/client hasnt "b_client_skip_channelgroup_permissions" permission.

amit are you sure all the groups you have mentioned are channelGroup-s?
because if GuildMaster is server one..... that would explain it.

also if you have topology where in parent channel you granted him that channel group and all the subchannels aren't channels where he should have it, thats the mistake you made(granting it this way).

How to let channel permissions overwrite server group premissions?

    Hello everyone,

I'm running a server and have some "Relaxation Channels" where users can go if they want to be on their owns and just be disturbed by "Members" or higher Server Groups.
    That's why I've set the i_client_needed_private_textmessage_power, i_client_needed_poke_power, i_client_needed_whisper_power to 65.
The problem now is that some Server Groups like "Admin" or "Server Admins" already have some values like 30 for i_client_needed_private_textmessage_power, which now overwrite the Channel Permissions which would be assigned to the user in the channel and works fine if the user isn't in a Server Group which already has a value for such an permission.
So my question now is, how do i make the Channel Permission overwriting the Server Group Permission?

    Thank you all very much.

By using the Skip flag on target permissions or set permisison b_client_skip_channelgroup_permissions in server group.
