Open the Ban list and click on Add button.
In the Name field, add the rule as it showed in the previous posts.
    And select "Regular Expression"

To how to use exactly the Regular expressions, you have several tutorials on google.

    Create a new ban:

    Code:
    .*((™)|()).*

This ban technique is a nice technique, however it is only useful for admin's because you don't want your users to be able to bypass bans.

    Possible to restrict certain names?

    Hey all,
    I have another nooby question:

Is there a way for me to create a filter for names on my server? I want to be able to make it so certain nicknames aren't allowed in my server.

Thanks all for your help so far. I'm getting more and more used to TS.

You can disallow Names (or parts thereof) by using the Ban System. Just ban the entire Nickname or use Regular Expressions to ban parts or certain patterns.

Tools -> Ban List -> add -> Nickname: Enter the Nickname or regular Expression. If you enter a Regular Expression make sure to select Regular Expression in the type dropdown. Also make sure to ban for an infinite amount of time otherwise the ban will expire.

Nobody but those that have b_client_ignore_bans (which by default only Server Admins have) can use those nicknames.

Thanks for this thread, its very helpful.

    Just a question though:

Is the ban case senistive, so we would need to put both versions in as the ban?

Enter PatPeter or [Pp][aA][tT][Pp][eE][tT][eE][rR], so it is possible to use PatPeter (Mic) as nickname.
Yes it is case sensitive. There is an example above.

Thanks, I was reading that, at first wondered if it needed to be done like this instead.

    [p][a][t][p][e][t][e][r]
    [P][A][T][P][E][T][E][R]

I see what you mean now though.

I also noticed the order of the lower and upper case seems to change in your example, I wondered if that was significant.

    [Pp][aA][tT][Pp][eE][tT][eE][rR]

The above has uppercase "P" first BEFORE a lower case "p", Then a lowercase "a" next, BEFORE the uppercase "A", if you see what I mean.

So I originally wondered if this would be the way to do it.. however I may be misunderstanding this completely.

    [Pp][Aa][Tt][Pp][Ee][Tt][Ee][Rr]

Its pretty simple really though once you get your head round it.

    Much appreciated for your help.

Only the content in these brackets are related here, not the order of the characters.

[Pp] and [pP] both would match the name P or p
