    Can't connect to local host

    Hello,
    I've been trying to set up my server for 2 days now. I have tackled alot of the problems but as always something else pulls up. The main problem I was having before was it wouldn't forward ports. But after a little research I found out that my modem acts like a router in the sense that it blocks port forwarding and was set to PPP on the modem. I switched it to PPP on the router and set up the router to do the work. Before all of this I was able to connect to the localhost but noone could connect to it externally. I set up the static ip of 192.168.1.5. The router is now able to port the needed ports but I am now unable to connect to local host. The log states :2009-11-23 01:22:28.584011|INFO |ServerLibPriv | | Server Version: 3.0.0-beta28 [Build: 12264], Windows

    If your server and client are on the same machine try 127.0.0.1

    using ppoe

    I'm also using a ppoe on the router instead of the modem. Using DD-WRT Do I need to have the gateway and local dns filled out and if so what should I put there.

    You have 2 options to connect to your server if it is on the same computer as the client you are trying to connect with. Use either localhost or 127.0.0.1 as your IP address. Since this request isn't leaving the local machine there should be no port forwarding required.

    Yes, I do understand this but neither of these options have worked on the computer in my current set up. I have a westell modem that I have passed the PPP to gateway. I have a WRT310N in DD-WRT mode. Ports are fine and forwarding but I cannot connect to local host.

    Could you post your client-log when trying to connect?
    Are you by any chance trying to connect to the default port 9987 instead of 9988 where your server is running?

    First, when using 127.0.0.1 your router, modem do not matter at all. But if you have a firewall on your computer also, that could still cause a problem when using 127.0.0.1
