Exclamation All clients disconnect on MySQL export using phpMyAdmin

    Hi,

Our database size is 90MB. If I choose 'Export' from phpMyAdmin, every client disconnects and the server becomes unreachable for 10-20 seconds. No ERROR or CRITICAL in log file. Is this normal?

I have 4 core Xeon, 4Gb RAM, the CPU load and mem usage is average during export. There was around 300 users online.

i am sure the export does lock tables which prevents the server to insert/update/whatever rows so the server is paused by your export which results in timeouts.

not to mention that it is quite uncommon to do an backup/export database while the application still runs... can only result in faulty export/backup

Thank you for your answer, I'll keep it in mind. But normally, when you want to create a MySQL backup, you either have to stop MySQL or issue a read lock on your MySQL tables in order to get a correct backup. What is the best practice in this case to make daily backups of TeamSpeak 3? Do it locally with dump?

if you do an external backup, with mysql or with just file copy, you have to stop the ts server instance.

if you only have a few virtualservers you could use the build in query command serversnapshotcreate ?
