allowing Users to create Sub-Channels, but not to create "Main"-Channels?!?

    Hi guys,
i want my users to can create sub-channels in a certain channel, but parallely not to create channels in the main-tree.
for sub-channels, there is a nice param: b_channel_create_child
but this is missing for the creating of not-sub-channels...

the only way i found to disallow the creating of channels is to deactivate these params:
    b_channel_create_modify_with_codec_speex8
    b_channel_create_modify_with_codec_speex16
    b_channel_create_modify_with_codec_speex32

but ofcourse then are sub-channels forbidden too...
anyone have an idea to solve that?

    and sorry for bad english

Right click the channel you want them to do it in and go to Channel Permissions then enable b_channel_create_child along with the other permissions such as:
b_channel_create_modify_with_codec_(speex8/speex16/speex32/celtmono48) note: celtmono48 is for music streaming and probably should not be granted to guests.
    b_channel_create_(temporary/semi-permanent/permanent)
    i_channel_create_modify_with_codec_maxquality (value of 10)
    i_channel_create_modify_with_codec_latency_factor_ min (value of 1)
    b_channel_create_with_needed_talk_power
    b_channel_create_with_password
    b_channel_create_with_description
    b_channel_create_with_maxclients

You may also want i_channel_max_depth with a value of 2, just to make sure they can't make channels inside their new channel.

Make sure you do this to the channel you want them to make sub channels in.
After you do this, tell them to enter the channel and then right click the channel and Create Sub Channel.

thank you for the quick answer.
this variant is similar to the one I am using at the moment. I guess this is the "nearest" solution for the problem.
the channel permission variant activates / deactivates both: the creating of sub-channls and the creating of normal-channels.
it seems there is no way to allow one and disallow the other at the same time...

Using the setup I posted, the user shouldn't be able to make main channels, if they try they should get a error. You might want to check the permissions on the groups they are in.

    Here are two examples.

Use the permission i_channel_min_depth to limit them to sub-channels only.

I think you mean max depth and even if he did use this it wouldn't stop users from making channels outside his current channel. I do believe he has permissions set on server groups that he doesn't know about.

With this system it isn't necessary the permission i_channel_max_depth = 2.
Assign permissions to the channel, the subchannels do not inherit the settings, and therefore can't create nested channels, just brothers.

To get to create all sorts of sub-channels within the parent channel, you must create a new Channel Group, and assign it the permission is turned off in the Normal Server Group: b_channel_create_permanent, you must also enable b_group_is_permanent
And of course, assign the users you want, to this Channel Group, in the relevant Channel
