Solved TS3 Client rc1-pre11 crash: Assertion chatTab

After receiving a private chat message, the TS3 client rc1-pre10 (Windows 7 - 64 bit) was closed and displayed the attached "Assertion chatTab" error window. All other clients with the same version rc1-pre10 on my TS3 server (beta 30, Linux 64 bit) crashed with the same error window too. TS3 clients with beta 36 and older was not affected by this.

Later I got the same private chat message again without problems.

What kind of message was it? A message into the Channel? Was your channel tab opened? Was it a server message? You said all other clients crashed too.

The error is saying, that the chat tab was not found.

It was a private chat message sent to all clients on the server by a telnet php script (homepage). Maybe I had the channel tab active (which I have open most of the time in TS3), not sure.

The TS3 client window freeze and that window you can see on the screenshot was opened. After I clicked on "Close", the TS3 client process and window was closed. No dump file was created, nothing special at the client log file (just the message from the screenshot).

I got that error two times that day. All clients with TS3 clients version rc1-pre10 was crashing. Clients with beta36 was not affected by this. The content of both messages was different. No more crashes occurred since then. Maybe this error only occur in relation with the CPU load bug, which is fixed for rc1-pre11, I don't know. I had that problem that day too.

Looks like from a chattab. Maybe from server tab or channel tab or PM.

I can give some more background informations, not sure if that helps more.

On my TS3 server all new forum posts will be announced by a PHP script. This PHP script send private text chat messages (formatted with BBCode B and URL) to all clients on my TS3 server. But the reason for the crash seems not the content of the chat message. Because first time I had this crash I sent the same message again and it didn't crash. Currently the crashes seems really random for me. Yesterday I was playing a game. After some hours of talking with other guys I was surprised why I don't get answers anymore. I minimized the game and I got again this assertion error message. I can receive many messages this way without any problems. But at random times (maybe approx. every 10 to 20 messages) I get this assertion error message.

This bug should be fixed with client release rc1-pre12. We can't reproduce it any longer.
