I would like to request your help in solving this issue. First we have to find out where it is. In order to do this I'd like you to to connect to a server and disable the capture profile. You can do this by connecting, then press on the menu item self->Capture profile and then on the profile that has a check item in front of it, probably "default". (Or just connect without a capture profile)
After this try to reproduce the hang/crash.
I'd also like you to do the same with the playback profile (So connect to a server, have a working capture profile, but no playback profile).
Report back here, under which conditions (both or 1 of the 2) the hang/crash still happened.

Hrm either your quick reply is borked or you deleted my post (for whatever unknown reason)

    So again:
Tested on a Laptop with hda-intel sound on Debian Gnu/Linux with pulseaudio and

capture and playback profile activated: crash
    playback profile activated: crash
none of them activated: stable for at least an hour

I dunno if it maybe related to buffersizes or something? Got some messages in my syslog which seem to be only happening when the ts3 rc1 client is running:

A lot of those but sadly with no preceding info which message was repeated and hence suppressed:
    xxx pulseaudio[5929]: ratelimit.c: 135 events suppressed

And from time to time those:
    xxx pulseaudio[5929]: asyncq.c: q overrun, queuing locally

I don't know if that is maybe just fallout happening right after the crash since the client doesn't empty the queues anymore.

My reply seems to be deleted too
Thank you for the info. In my deleted reply, I asked if you could also test the other remaining option: Playback disabled and Capture enabled.

I'll take a look at the pulse audio output. If ts3 hangs, it is logical that some PA queues would over/under-run

The thread has been moved into it's own post, because this seems to be another problem

Don't see why it should be a different problem. You are aware that with "tick in playback" I meant that the checkbox for the default playback/capture is ticked/activated.

    Btw update on the test:
capture and playback profile activated: hangs
    playback profile activated: hangs
    none of them activated: stable

capture profile activated: stable for half an hour (don't have more time to test atm, will try a longer run this evening)

you guys are talking about a crash and the main tthread belongs to the stale decoder, the client is not crashing , it is hanging, when the stale decoder appears in client log.

Ok sry wrong words on my part: It is not a crash where I get a segfault or something, its the same behavior described by FierceFranky in the #1 post. Client spikes the cpu-load to 100% percent, the transmission led of someone is lit and ts3 doesn't respond anymore.

Based on your posts I am assuming something in the playback chain is going into an infnite loop. Ill concentrate my search there. I'd like to hear from other as well, to confirm they all don't have the problem when playback profile is disabled/deactivated.

Soon (I hope today) a test client should be released that can hopefully tell me more precise where the freeze is. When it is released, please run it. When it freezes, let it freeze for at least 15 seconds. After this time, ts3 should make some log entries, saying where it stalled.

    More testing for Stale Decoder
Please download this installer and install this pre version of our Rc2 client
    http://ftp.4players.de/pub/hosted/ts...leases/client/
    Windows XP users need TeamSpeak3-Client-win32-3.0.0-rc2-pre1.exe

This client has more logging enabled and provides more informations, while it is hanging.
You can open Tools > Client Log ,to check these logs, while the client is running.
Or you get the log files from your client configuration folder

The configuration folder depends on your installtion and the path you have choosed before.

    Path 1:
    - To get to the config Hold your Windows Key and press R > Type %appdata% into the field and press OK
    - Now find the fodler called TS3Client inside that folder you will find another folder called logs
    - open the last files and copy some content

    Path 2:
The default installation folder from your client.
Open this path C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\config\logs and open the last logs
Please copy some lines, when it happend.

This does not fix the problem, we need more testing for it.

thats my error. it happens every so often and TS3 becomes completely unresponsive

im running windows7 64bit if that helps.

any help would be greatly apreciated

EDIT after looking again it might be the LIMSTOPWATCH part where it crashes
EDIT2 its is LIMSTOPWATCH where it freezes, i checked immediately after it crashed and it was limstopwatch

Two different PCs, both running XP 32bit.
one with build 14345, second with Build 14385.
server is 14467 on linux 64 bit

after about 40 minutes of recording - first PC froze (reset only).

once that happened, I took over the recording (Second computer - different continent) after about 40 minutes My computer also froze (again reset button was called upon to the rescue). WAV file is 315MB in size, and corrupted (I cannot open it).

nothing interesting on the logs. (computer just froze).

    Thank you,
    Uri
